@PoliCyYung @JuddLegum Iran reportedly rejected the idea of transferring uranium stockpiles abroad. You should know what it means.

So the Trump administration’s two goals in peace talks with Iran are: 1. A commitment by Iran not to develop a nuke (This was part of the Obama deal that Trump canceled) 2. Opening the Strait of Hormuz. (Was open before war.)

@JuddLegum Before the war, Iran already agreed to #1 but then we attacked them… “Iran has agreed to zero stockpiling of uranium and to convert existing enriched material into fuel, calling it an unprecedented breakthrough in nuclear negotiations.” (2-28-26)

"By early Sunday, three main sticking points remained, according to two Iranian officials familiar with the talks: the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz; the fate of nearly 900 pounds of highly enriched uranium; and Iran’s demand that about $27 billion in frozen revenues held abroad be released." "The United States had demanded that Iran immediately reopen the strait to all maritime traffic. But Iran refused to relinquish leverage over the critical choke point for oil tankers, saying it would do so only after a final peace deal, according to the two Iranian officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive diplomatic negotiations." nytimes.com/2026/04/11/wor…

JUST IN 🇮🇷🇺🇸: Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Gives Exact Details on Why Deal Failed with U.S. A lot of progress was made but 2 to 3 points killed the negotiations. Esmail Baghaei: We reached an understanding on a number of issues, but on 2-3 important topics, the views differed and ultimately the talks did not lead to an agreement. This round of negotiations was the longest round of negotiations in this one year and lasted a total of 24 or 25 hours. It is a tool to protect national interests / Diplomats must perform their duties both in times of war and peace. These negotiations took place after 40 days of imposed war and were conducted in an atmosphere of mistrust and suspicion; it is natural that we should not have expected to reach an agreement in just one session from the start. No one had such an expectation either Another point was the complexity of the issues and conditions. Some new topics, such as the Strait of Hormuz, were added in these negotiations, each having its own complexity. In any situation, we must pursue the rights and interests of the Iranian people in the diplomatic apparatus. I thank the government and people of Pakistan and personally Mr. Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Asim Munir, Army Commander, and Mr. Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister. We thank them for their warm hospitality and are confident that contacts between us and Pakistan and our other friends in the region will continue. Diplomacy stands alongside the defenders of the homeland and we are ready for all kinds of sacrifices.

JUST IN 🇮🇷🇺🇸: IRAN REJECTS U.S. FINAL OFFER, NO DEAL Iran will be leaving Pakistan shortly. Fars News Agency: The American team was looking for an excuse to leave the negotiating table. The Americans were not ready to lower their expectations. Iranian Media IRIB: "The American enemy, which is vile, wicked and dishonest — attempted to achieve on the negotiating table what it did not achieve through war. Among these demands are handing over enriched uranium and opening the Strait of Hormuz without confirmed Iranian sovereignty over it. Iran has decided to reject these terms and continue the holy defense of its fatherland by any means necessary, military or diplomatic."

US Vice President JD Vance said any deal with Iran requires a clear commitment that Tehran will not pursue nuclear weapons or the means to rapidly develop them. “We need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon," Vance said. “That is the core goal of the president of the United States, and that's what we've tried to achieve through these negotiations.”

CNN National Security Analyst Alex Plitsas said Iran’s refusal to accept US policy red lines on nuclear issues reflects Tehran’s belief it is winning and can wait the US out. “Iran’s position and unwillingness to give in to US policy red lines on the nuclear issues is a reflection of the fact Tehran believes that’s it’s winning and can wait the US out. We won’t see a change in behavior until we see a change in perception," he posted on X.

The "new regime" consists of the same people as the old regime and they are currently fast tracking death sentences for Iranians who rose up in January. This is led by the Ejei who is by far the deadliest hangman right now. In short: The regime has not changed.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Regime change?! Ali Khamenei would be 87 now. If Trump had waited a bit, Ali would have been gone due to age anyway. His son Mojtaba Khamenei would have taken over peacefully. Now Ali was killed and became a martyr. Mojtaba came in anyway but angry and is even more anti-American than before, because a lot of his family was killed in the airstrike. Both ways would have been the same “regime change.” The peaceful one could have been a better way to start new relations. But nope.

Kuwait was stolen from Iraq by the British. Bahrain was stolen from Iran by the British. The UAE was stolen from Oman by the British. Qatar was carved out of Bahrain by the British. Pakistan & Bangladesh was split out of India by the British. A clear pattern of colonial theft and fragmentation.
