Okay hear me out, Shidou’s favourite song is a symbol of wanting to break free from the constraints of one’s life. He also constantly avoids talking about the past and moves on from things that “bore” him, he needs constant entertainment and excitement to enjoy something. He is super fixated on the present, and he thinks that “leaving memories behind by connecting or hurting someone is the same.” He accepts that we will all be heartbroken someday or be the ones hurting others; he accepts being hurt as a natural human process. All in all, I think that there is some form of abuse in his past. He got hurt so often that he became numb to it. This might also correlate with how he’s careless about how his actions might affect others, but his carelessness also connects to his freedom. Another important part of his philosophy is that everyone exists to leave larger proof of their existence. Everyone has something they can do to fulfill themselves. Both are forms of expression to him. He views it as a purpose. And why do we have purposes in the first place? To fill a missing void inside ourselves. A sense of identity. We set goals like becoming doctors, engineers, architects, artists, musicians, etc. and dedicate ourselves to them because it helps us feel less lost. He believes people exist to leave proof of themselves behind. For him, that proof is scoring goals!! He may have been a lost child with no freedom and was forced into a miserable existence by his parents or something/someone else. Eventually he began searching for something that would help him cope. He then found soccer, and he began using it every time he felt bad or constrained. It slowly became everything to him. But I still have no idea how tf Anri found him though, because he never played for a team lol 😭✌️
