lol at the people who think this is doing anything to that 2x4. If half of you saw what was holding half your house together behind the drywall you’d never sleep right again. It’s physics. 2x4’s that are nailed correctly as a stud can hold up to 300lbs if screwed or drilled out correctly. And that’s code weight. That could completely snap and the wall would still be fine, wouldn’t move a micrometer

//PRAYERS// When I got to the hallowed and sacred ground of the powwow for the rehearsal this year, it was raining. The roads were muddy, it looked to be a lot more miserable than the scouting the year previous. I was there for the rehearsal ahead of everyone else. I walked the long road to go hang the flag first thing. On my way back, a small sparrow greeted me in the tree. “Oh! Well, thank you sir. Your woods are quite lovely in the rain this time of year. Thank you for allowing me to pass here.” He chirped and moved on. He seemed happy. I knew he love this rain. I didn’t mind it, because he loved it. I continued on back to my car, it was time to set up my sleep system, but first to throw on the gaiters. As I was donning them, a raven showed up. “Ah. My friend, we meet once again!” I’ve met many ravens thought out my life. I keep a black feather in my car for my travels. It’s something I gathered from a pile of them which guided my hand. Story about an owl I’ll tell you all sometime. The ravens always help me. I help them. “Thank you, sir, I met your friend back there. I am grateful for you showing me this spot last year. I’ve returned with some friends. I need a favor, my guy. Please give everyone safe passage to this spot. We aim to have an honorable time in the name of creator. And in your honor.” The raven looked at me and flew off. I knew he wasn’t a fan of the rain. Moments later the clouds broke. I knew this was my time to speak. “Thank you, creator. I come to you in great humility today. Thank you for the safe passage and the outstanding sunshine and friendship last year. I am here to ask you once more for safe passage for my friends. We want to have a good, and honorable time, in your honor sir. Please allow us spend it well here, to explore your forest, and please protect us.” I felt him in my heart, kind of got choked up a bit. It had been so long since I had been in these woods. Work has kept me away since the year previous, when we had only gotten a glimpse of this spot at the very last da of our scouting. It was a gem, as you will all come to learn. “I’m so grateful for everything you have given me. Thank you for my family, my friends, thank you for the tribe. We are building it in your honor. A year from now we will bring many, to honor you, and honor this sacred forest, for many years to come. I know many fear to venture here… but we do it for you. Thank you creator. Oh, my guy, and maybe hold off a little on the rain for us, we want to have some fun out here for you.” I crack a smile. Moments later the rain let up, and despite the forecast being rainy on the day we left, it stayed dry, and gorgeous. I didn’t ask him about the cold, so it was cold, but there was no rain. Creator allowed us to honor him on this rehearsal. We shall always honor him and the forest while we are there. This is the ethos of what it means to be tribe. To be one with our earth. I don’t ever tell my prayers. But I knew I needed to tell my brothers and sisters this prayer. I shared it at the camp fire for ever newcomer. Be grateful to the smallest of creatures if they should let you pass. Thank them, ask them for guidance. They will be there for you. We are lucky to walk amongst the spirit of this great nation. The holiest of spirits. For he is always there.
