Dilemma with Shakira today is that the GP is pulling her two ways. She can release an English single that the English GP will like but the Latam GP will not support & so it still won’t be a massive hit. A Spanish one, the English GP won’t support esp if LATAM doesn’t i.e. Algo Tu

And she still is. Even with the newer generation of Latin artists. Some will say they are songwriters in the sense they write their lyrics, but a lot of artists do that. Shakira is listed as a producer in the majority of her songs. The others rely heavily on producers.
