We have been studying the brilliant work of artist Kehinde Wiley. Chestnut class are beginning to think about what makes people successful, powerful or inspirational.

Year 5 and 6 have been studying the art of Kehinde Wiley. As a practice piece, we have begun to create unusual, eye-catching backgrounds in vivid colours. The subject of the pictures will be added next week.

A wonderful Coronation Lunch - ended up inside instead of outside but still lots of fun. Winners of the crown decorating competition to be announced!

KS2 absolutely loved their trip to Saffron Hall today to watch and take part in 'Saffron Sounds Live!' with Jess Gillam (MBE) and co. SO wonderful to experience live music.

We are enjoying being back on the field - so lucky to have a such huge space to play and run! We also have a new 'outdoor classroom' which was finished yesterday. It is beautiful and perfect for afternoon story times.

Chestnut Class have worked so hard on their Highwayman-inspired art and writing unit. We are very proud of the work they have achieved. A high quality, engaging text makes all the difference to pupil outcomes.

Chestnut Class are being scientists at Braintree Museum today and making plant observations as part of the life cycles topic.

Beautiful writing from Beech Class. They have enjoyed the story of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe so far and have created some beautiful writing. Enjoy!

Chestnut Class enjoyed planning out their final piece of art in the style of Charles Keeping. Looking forward to seeing the end result in a few weeks!

Look at the lovely zig zag books that Elm Class are making! They have been reading The Naughty Bus by Jan Oke.

So impressed with the concentration and effort in maths today in both Ash Class and Beech Class. Beech Class were learning how to measure accurately and Ash were sharing into equal groups.

@RJPalacio We have been incredibly inspired by the book Wonder over the past few years - it demonstrates our school values and ethos so well. Year 5 and 6 have written some diary entries based on the experiences of the characters in the story. Choose Kind. Always.

Post PE stretching and cool down with Mr R. Elm class are concentrating on their breathing and relaxation too.

As part of their topic on The Highwayman (by Alfred Noyes), Chestnut Class have discovered a crime scene and been thinking about how the police have to ensure evidence is handled correctly! The book also provides a great opportunity for learning new vocabulary!
