spent years at Palantir deploying software into 300+ customer environments wrote up everything i know about doing this, what BYOC actually is, what it costs to build (3-5 engineers, most of a year), when you need it

We had a customer’s product engineer spend 2 weeks configuring a Postgres database for an on-prem deployment to their customer’s AWS account 2 weeks of back and forth on encryption settings, backup policies, lifecycle rules, and monitoring This keeps happening: 1/ Enterprise customers want everything in their own cloud 2/ Team scrambles to put Terraform together 3/ Your engineers are reading AWS docs on KMS key rotation instead of building product 4/ Then enterprise security review adds another month We just shipped the Ryvn Blueprint Marketplace Pre-built Postgres, Redis, and other infra ready to deploy in customer cloud accounts and fully SOC 2 compliant Simple enough to hand to an agent No Terraform to mess up Your engineers should be building product, not becoming cloud consultants for every customer

your "hustle hard" founder mentality is silently holding you back protecting sleep consistency might be your highest-ROI activity you can't outwork shit recovery i use a WHOOP to track resting heart rate the lower it is before bed, the deeper and more restorative the sleep sleep isn't a luxury for founders, it's a competitive advantage

YC partners told us they'd only accept us if we killed our startup we applied to YC with a D2C edtech app zero traction, 100% churn after 2 weeks but in our application's other ideas section, we mentioned building an on-prem deployment platform they said, "we'll let you in only if you build the deployment platform" so we dropped edtech immediately two weeks leading up to demo day, we were booked in back-to-back investor calls sometimes your backup idea is your best one

as AI products integrate with more data sources, enterprises will demand for more on-prem / self-hosted. kubernetes, declarative deployments, and cloud-agnostic infra are the tools that let us ship everywhere, minimize infra overhead, and deliver deployments at scale

Building software in regulated industries is a maze of bureaucracy Here’s what I’ve seen work: Start with constraints, not features. Most founders jump into feature planning. But in healthcare, finance, defense, your real roadmap starts with the regulatory landscape. 1/7
