@esc_gabe It fills me with joy too. As soon as I heard it in Iceland selections I picked it as a winner, saw it Songvakeppnin live and just thought it had so much potential. It's proven right. Love those boys. Want them invited to Australia now.

Róa going from being a 50/50 qualifier to a post-contest streaming success like this fills me with joy

@gregorioingles How many of you who are negatively commenting have actually 1. Watched a full jesc, 2. Attended a jesc? I imagine none of you. Because you aren't the target audience. Been to 6 jescs (2 x Yerevan, 1 x Sofia, 1 x Kyiv, 1 x Malta, 1 x Minsk). Different vibe, great for kids.

Junior Eurovision. The EBU needs to stop trying to flog a dead horse and call it a day. Participation is dwindling, most viewers and attendees are middle-aged Spanish men and not actual kids, and the EBU has enough problems to deal with in the main contest.

@esc_gabe Yep, one check of the specs shows it's clear that it's Vienna. Look at floor loads, roof height/weight bearing etc. other locations don't come close to look at quick fixes.

This is all well and good, but the Wiener Stadthalle is the only venue in the country that meets the technical specifications laid out by the EBU, so the process is ultimately pointless

🇦🇹 Kronen Zeitung reports that the #Eurovision 2026 host city and venue are planned to be announced in July. Next week, ORF will send a 40-page application letter to all nine state governors. The number of proposals will be reduced to around three in June.

@EurovisionTom As I understand, through the app (where the majority of votes are now being made), that's direct revenue to EBU

Outside of the ROTW vote, do we have any info/data on what split (if any) there is on the income from televoting for each broadcaster? Do the EBU get a % of it or not? Do we have any idea what cost a televote needs to be before it starts making a profit?

@oxyasss @EurovisionTom I have indicated the same. Max 3 votes per country, 20 votes max total. Per person, not per payment method/device. Act on a mechanism of once votes reach that threshold to lock the app. They collect IP data etc so I can't see why this can't happen.

re: 20 votes: "This is designed to ensure that audiences of all ages can vote for more than one of their favourite songs..." Then just implement a max of 3-5 votes for a single country - voting 20 times for one country doesn't fit that narrative whatsoever

🚨 ESC director Martin Green has published an open letter to the #Eurovision community, highlighting the current voting process. Among other things, he states the EBU will look at "promotion of acts [...] by delegations and associated parties".

@benstevens2002 @esc_gabe It might be ok in the eyes of EBU right now, but their member broadcasters have suddenly woken up and realized it IS wrong

@esc_gabe Of course not - but if he honestly believes that 20 votes per payment method isn’t having a disproportionate effect on the final result - as he suggests - then that should be deeply troubling for us all. Surely better to say nothing at all.

This is a step in the right direction (and a drastically different tone). Most important is that now there will be a clear opportunity for broadcasters - and the new reference group - to make changes over the next year.

@esc_gabe Just the fact it was an open letter to fandom was the first proper acknowledgement we have had in 2 years, and indicates that what we say is worth them addressing us as adults rather than being spoken to like a bunch of naughty toddlers.

@esc_gabe I can set up 10 virtual credit cards tied to one of my accounts in a matter of minutes too. Everything is just so simple to do nowadays, and if you are motivated enough... You know we are working on all of this @esc_gabe

@esc_gabe Well my own experience is I needed no ID to purchase an e-sim for either Latvia or UK on my travels. I wasn't in the country, I did it all online from Australia.

I'd be really interested to see someone go into depth on how voting cost/ease of SIM card purchases reflect against this. Can't help but notice Poland and Armenia both require ID to purchase/register simcards, and Estonia is the most expensive country to vote in (€1.70/vote)

@EurovisionTom The vote advertising per se is not actually the issue, it's the methods employed to vote, and investigation of the legitimacy and transparency of the results.

@esc_gabe It's still coming across as aloof, has little emotional connection. Great voice but song isn't much. Style over substance and that 40 seconds still goes nowhere vocally or visually that's accessible for a general Saturday viewer. Staging is too dark as well and too arty.

@gregorioingles It wasn't the social media from Israel that bothered me; it was the unsolicited emails I got from Jewish organisations telling me I didn't even need to watch the show but I 'should vote for solidarity and here's how to do it'. Non related intl govt organisations.

Remember last year when eurofans claimed Israel “rigged” the televote by paying for social media ads? (This isn’t criticism of Miriana, just pointing out that many countries do social media ads every year)

@EdwardafSillen Yep, the actual definition of a comedy act - you are correct. They have been performing and writing musical comedy for over a decade. I love the tune, it hits what you want at Eurovision, well performed, memorable, catchy and transcends language barriers. KAJ for the win!

Would be the first time in Eurovision HISTORY that a comedy act wins. I’ll believe it when I see it. But I do love KAJ.
