Botley Road rail bridge is to reopen to traffic in August 2026 – but a widened pedestrian walkway will be opened this summer. Network Rail says it is “extremely sorry” for the delays but that “we’re confident the revised plan is deliverable”.
@PaulCliftonBBC@networkrailwest Bit of a contrast to Nuneham Courtenay...!
I know the physical structures were very different, but Network Rail were so impressive with that one! Not the railway out of action this time, of course.
Oxford’s Botley Road railway bridge to reopen August 2026. That’s an extraordinary THREE YEAR closure for @networkrailwest to replace a bridge over a road. Work started April 2023 and was meant to involve 2 6-month closures.

“Benefits cheats face being banned from driving as part of a new crackdown on fraud across the UK”.
This won’t happening - it wouldn’t survive court - but have the government entirely lost the plot! This is not far off stocks or public flogging. tinyurl.com/nh6v6cxh
"You got to the front! But there's no one behind you."
The diehard MAGAs took their seats at Capitol Hill for the inauguration.. but that was about all. 👀

"The next item as you announced in your speech is a requirement that federal workers return to full time in person work immediately"
Why do they hate working from home so much?
The ICE raids are set to begin.
Having an escape plan/safety plan/bug out plan will be extremely important.
The news will not provide it. We are on our own.
Here is a thread on what to do and what's ahead.
Please share, while we still can. And yes, it has happened here.
@NickCatterall@anon_opin People who are bothered about it don't give away their location on a smartphone, they take care with what they put on social media, etc.
@anon_opin I've never understood the "collecting data" concern. Anyone who cares to, has already accessed every bit of info on you that they desire. Our phones give our location, our cards give our spending habits, we're on CCTV every second that we're out in public etc etc.
Sick of people whining about Tesco prices being high if you don't have a clubcard. Just get one. They're free. "But they collect my data" So fucking what? If they want to know about my cheese eating habits, they bloody well can.
@ediz1975 Yes, very bad behaviour from the cyclist.
Even if pedestrians are wont to behave like oblivious muppets, cyclists have a duty of care towards them and need to slow down & pass carefully without scaring them.
This is a shared space …..
A cyclist came speeding passed me around 50cm away from me …..
I shouted that it was a very close pass to me ….
The cyclist stopped and swore at me stating I should move out the way …
I then stated I have priority as a pedestrian….
I quote him “I give a fi@&”

@tweetsbyrayan Yup, the edits are a dead giveaway! Though I do appreciate that earlier on, if they don't show a decent quantity of early departers, it doesn't give them a fair amount.
@katherinesmiles@matthew_barber Hear hear! Vulnerable cyclists, and people in groups, like women, who are more vulnerable, need more representation please!
This morning I hosted the first meeting of our new Thames Valley Road Safety Partnership. Grateful to the councillors, highways engineers, police officers, firefighters and ambulance staff who came together to kick off the work. Some exciting ideas already about adding value to existing work to make our roads safer and reduce road deaths.

So yesterday I cleaned the cutlery cupboard - as one does when you’re supposed to do your taxes. In the meantime I put the cutlery somewhere else.
I lost the knives.
I have no idea where I put them but I haven’t found them after a whole day. Have already checked in the bed.
