I know how incredible its fan-works "Flames of Eternity" which made as the sequel of Chrono Trigger (fan-made). Unfortunately I haven't played it yet but the channel tell us a bunch of information and its interest

@Xyless Yes, CT’s time-travel stuff was a bit vague imo but CC felt like it made it all more coherent story. i might be mixing things up with some unofficial F.O.E. tho
@sharp_na_ago I remember watching a video essay about how the person (Satchbags IIRC) believed that Chrono Cross is actually a perfect sequel *specifically* as a sequel to the *world* and not the characters themselves.
That concept is what finally got me to appreciate CC as a sequel.
ive played Chrono Cross (and pretty sure i beat it) but its just one possible future in a parallel world not the true canon to me. too sad to think Guardia falls not long after the true ending of Chrono Trigger also really dont want to accept what happens to Lucca either
@Xyless Yeah…i know officially the only parallel worlds are based on whether Serge lives or dies. There aren’t multiple timelines branching from Chrono Trigger and Cross treats it as the only canon outcome of the future where Lavos was defeated. its really well thought out anyway
@sharp_na_ago It's canon to the timeline that played out in Chrono Trigger.
There's always the possibility that future time manipulation can happen, but Time Crash was a very clever way to handle the fact that multiple people/entities had discovered time travel including Lavos itself.
The PS version added a movie scene linking to Cross so i guess the devs do treat it as canon tho..
still the unofficial product Flames of Eternity which create by fans gave me some comfort it respects Cross lore while imagining more hopeful future for the Trigger characters
