It always seemed to me like we could easily take control of the strait if we wanted to. Iran never actually controlled anything, all they did was threaten to mine and shoot drones at passing ships. It seemed we could easily prevent that with battleships and mine the sweepers. With adequate patrolling of the coastline we could kill anyone who launched a drone as well as shoot down the drone. It seems like we could end that practice in a hurry and I'm glad president Trump is taking the initiative and doing that.

🚨 JUST IN: In a jaw-dropping power move, U.S. President Donald Trump has unleashed the ultimate Trump Card against the Iranian regime by announcing a full "naval blockade" of the 'Strait of Hormuz'! He has ordered the US Navy to aggressively interdict any vessels that paid Iranian tolls, obliterate all laid mines, and respond with overwhelming force to any attacks following the total collapse of nuclear negotiations.

South Africa won’t allow Starlink to be licensed, even though I was BORN THERE, simply because I am not Black! We were offered many times the opportunity to bribe our way to a license by pretending that a Black guy runs Starlink SA, but I have refused to do so on principle. Racism should not be rewarded no matter to which race it is applied. Shame on the racist politicians in South Africa. They should be shown no respect whatsoever anywhere in the world and shunned for being unashamedly RACISTS!
DogeDesigner@cb_doge

Why Elon Musk is RIGHT to fight South Africa’s racist rules blocking Starlink? Imagine this: Long ago, South Africa had very unfair laws called apartheid. They treated Black people badly and kept them from good jobs and money. When those bad laws ended, the country made new rules (called B-BBEE) to help Black people get a fair share of business. The idea was good – like a big helping hand. But now? For companies like Starlink to sell fast internet, they MUST give away 30% of their business to Black partners. Just because of skin color. Elon Musk was born in South Africa. He left as a teen to chase big dreams. Today, his company SpaceX wants to bring Starlink – super fast satellite internet – to South Africa. But the rules say no unless they give up part of the company. Elon said it right: “Starlink is not allowed because I’m not Black.” SpaceX promised to spend about $30 million (that’s 500 million rand!) to give FREE high-speed internet to 5,000 rural schools. That helps over 2.4 MILLION kids every year learn better, get jobs later, and have a brighter future. Real help for the people who need it most! Starlink already works in about 24 other African countries. Villages there now have internet for school, doctors, and business. South Africa’s villages are missing out because of these racist rules. Elon isn’t asking for special favors. He just wants fair play so Starlink can connect everyone fast. Internet = education, jobs, hope. Why hold back millions of kids over rules that pick by race and color?

If you want to celebrate Human Rights Day in South Africa, then you can go and do it on your own. We have 70 murders a day, almost half the population without a job, and millions who still don't have access to drinking water or a toilet that can flush. Our constitutional court has no problem with a vile song being sung to kill people purely based on their race/culture, but bans a piece of cloth for "hate speech". We have over 140 race-based laws that discriminate directly against people because of the colour of skin they were born with. We have a government that still blames the past for today's failures but yet they have been in control of this country for 32 years and with trillions of taxpayers' funds. No thanks, go and live in your imaginary bubble and celebrate this day with people who are just as narrow-minded as you. I will rather keep on exposing the human rights violations taking place daily in this country. I love my country, but I despise my government.

The notion that BEE is simply not operating “optimally”, and therefore minor tweaks should be made, is a red herring.  Government and the beneficiaries of BEE want to continue to extract as much as possible from the economy to enrich themselves and to hold on to the levers of power.  William Gumede did a thorough study on BEE which demonstrates how BEE is fundamentally unworkable.  BEE should be rejected and scrapped outright. Some of the pertinent points include:  - Only 46 politically connected individuals captured 60% of all BEE mining deals and became billionaires/multimillionaires. - A loss of 300,000–500,000 mining jobs since the 1990s. - The Guptas extracted >R57 billion through BEE-linked deals, and the ANC’s Chancellor House pocketed R38 billion via Hitachi contract for Medupi & Kusile, contributing to Eskom’s debt ballooning from R40 bn to over R400 bn. - BEE has destroyed merit-based competition and entrepreneurship: political connectedness to the ANC matters far more than skill

@zilevandamme Unfortunately such a poor lack of leadership to think that these 2 are actually followed by so many. I mean really, surely we can do better in SA. There’s a massive gap open in SA politics!

MEDIA BRIEIFING ON PEOPLES MARCH QUESTION 1: On the disinformation peddled by drunkards on South Africa being paid by Iran for ICJ case. RESPONSE: There is a so called billionaire who goes to podcasts and lies that the ICJ case was funded by Iran. The case was funded by the state. Even if he goes to court he would never win, we going to take him to court. Because he is speaking from a point of not being sober. They take drugs and lie about the ANC. QUESTION 2: The decision by the Jhb REC to remove the Mayor. RESPONSE: The decision to remove mayors lies with the national leadership. The NWC has made it clear that the REC cannot do that. We will embark on the appointment of mayors of metros and secondary cities soon and will announce to the country.

I know many people miss the sound of Richie’s voice on commentary. He’s probably still widely regarded as the best tv cricket commentator. But, if Richie remains at #1, who would you put at #2? I’m genuinely interested to see who people pick. Radio commentators need not apply!

Key documented issues from SIU investigations, Auditor-General reports & independent analyses of SA's COVID response under ANC govt: - PPE procurement corruption: 5,000+ contracts probed (R14.8bn total); irregularities in 38%+ worth R3.1bn+ (overpricing, no bids, connected firms). SIU recovered millions, e.g. Gauteng R257m contract set aside 2024. - Relief funds looting: Food parcels/UIF diverted; Ramaphosa condemned ANC-linked graft. - Lockdown: Strictest Level 5 (alcohol/tobacco bans, curfews) hit informal economy hardest; prolonged with mixed health impact vs. severe job/hunger costs. - Vaccine rollout: Delayed start; AstraZeneca suspended after low efficacy vs Beta variant; missed early targets, slow coverage. Early action praised by WHO, but these flaws per official probes undermined outcomes.
