Apparently I've been working with TPUs for over 845 days. Retrospective thread: My old notes are funny. We could use 300GB during training because we were accidentally training on the TPU's CPU. (All the TPU cores were idle.) But we could train GPT 1.5B! No one else could.

We got a new puppy and named her Pip. Now she sleeps in our bed every night, and it melts my heart every time. She's such a good pup too. Earlier she had to throw up, so she got off the bed first. It's strange how they realize things like that at just 9 weeks old.

Writing code consists of: 10% the actual coding, 40% thinking through solutions and sanity checking them, and 50% trying to figure out which StackOverflow/YouTube browser tab was the useful one.

@RyanHoliday @Paykhan Humans often can’t control feelings. They can absolutely control how they cope with them. For many people (I am one of them) this must be painstakingly learned over time, as coping mechanisms run deep and are hard to overwrite. Stay empathetic.
