I've always been a dog person—I've had dogs my whole life and never owned a cat, though I've had plenty of other animals. That changed in September when a little cat basically found me and decided to join the family. I'll still always be a dog person at heart, but there's something truly special about this creature that I can't quite put into words. When she jumps up on the bed at night and curls up on my hip or stomach while I'm sleeping, there's this gentle, steady warmth against me—it's a kind of quiet comfort I honestly haven't felt many times in my life.
