Today I had the pleasure of meeting with @macmillancancer & Shirley from my constituency. Shirley is a remarkable lady who has recovered from breast cancer and is supporting cancer patients and survivors. Thank you to everyone supporting patients and helping to fight cancer.🙏🏼

@Huggy77 @itvnews So sorry to hear this one of my cancers was triple negative too , well done you for being proactive and getting it checked , so sad the GP wouldn’t see you !!

@itvnews I found a lump week b4 Xmas GP didn’t want to see me, I refused the answer and sat up there for 2 hours. Glad I stood my ground as got diagnosed3 weeks later with Triple Negative breast cancer and about to have my 2nd round of chemo. 21 weeks of it every single week.

This needs to change

The average number of people in England with suspected cancer who waited more than two weeks to see a specialist following a GP referral: 4,351 people per month in 2012 51,099 people per month in 2022 2022 is the worst year on record for cancer waiting times.

Shocking reading these figures below from Macmillan , so honoured to be asked to add my comments and thoughts to the announcement , we have to start doing better now !!

I had to continuously follow up with my healthcare teams after experiencing delays to results, appointments, and information about my medication. The stress of having to chase is not good for people when they have enough going on already,

These should be simple little things that would really benefit people to have in place. “We have to do better. The Government can’t keep failing people. I just feel we have to bring this to the attention of policy makers. They have to understand what’s going on in the real world.

especially when you throw in all the financial concerns for people going through cancer at the minute. It’s hard enough trying to tackle a benefits system that needs updating, without having to proactively seek appointments or get clarity and answers.
