One thing I'll say about Lindsey Graham, which also applies to John McCain...
A lot of people on the right romanticize the Scots-Irish as the "based" element of the Protestant founding stock. They're tough, patriotic, they fight hard, they don't take shit from anybody. Many even fought for the Confederacy. So cool!
And yet, many of these same people recoil in horror at Scots-Irish politicians who apply the same attitude to foreign affairs—i.e., kill the bastards, death before dishonor, we'll be damned if we let some two-bit communists/terrorists push us around, etc etc.
Suddenly, this is dangerous "warmongering" to be condemned by all right-thinking Connecticut Unitarians, ladies' knitting circles, and based nationalists.
