I’ve now watched the Russell Brand Dispatches documentary. It was a very difficult watch. I’m a father, a husband a brother and a son to wonderful women. And I wish all the women involved well. One thing that struck me was the way the programme was directed and edited. All women, without exception, are portrayed as helpless, without autonomy and spell bound when in front of an attractive man. Which let’s face it, is incredibly sexist. The statements are harrowing and heart wrenching, we have however only heard one side of the story. In order to draw an objective conclusion we would need a documentary devoted to Russell’s Brand perspective. If we must have trial by media, it must be fair. Quite clearly Russell Brand is a troubled man, if you don’t like him you will be 100% convinced. If you do like him and support his anti-establishment stance, less so. For me there must be police investigation. Without it, we could all be guilty of anything we are accused of.
