I genuinely cannot understand the angle Trump is going for.
If the reports are true, Trump took a massive gamble attacking Iran and will now not only give up everything he's accomplished, but we might even be worse off than before, for no discernible reason.
Trump doesn't have to give Iran anything. He's holding all the cards.
Iran will now establish itself as the dominant regional force in full control of the Strait of Hormuz, they will continue funding terrorist proxies, the ballistic missile program is left unaddressed, billions of dollars will be unfrozen, and Iran is not even making any real commitments on the nuclear front.
We're snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory.
