@shortwave78 Hi there looking for advice. I got a Tecsun PL 880 whats the best SW antenna just a simple long line cable or it would be better a fancy one. Second the region where you are located has to do much on your reception or it doesnt matter at all.

@VR_FR_Spotter Hi, I've never owned a PL880 or similar. I think it's best to avoid active or high-gain antennas to avoid overloading the receiver. Try asking on some PL880 user pages/forums.

Polish Numbers-Station known as “E11 Oblique” sending a 200-numbers ciphered message (40 groups of 5 numbers) on 8180kHz.
E11 is suspected of being linked to Polish Military Intelligence.

@Paul92417890 No. There is an even more reliable way. Go very close to broadcast centers with a portable receiver, and if the signal is strong enough to be received even after disconnecting the antenna, you've found the source.

@shortwave78 There's only one reliable way and that is 3, or more, calibrated Direction Finding sites to produce a cocked hat response and a proper derivation made.
So far the origins have been identified as Cyprus, Israel, Germany, Tanzania [!] and of course Ramstein AFB. Probably all wrong

@shortwave78 It’s at a shortwave broadcasting relay with a big curtain antenna on Tanzania not some random log periodic in Germany.
Is that log periodic big enough for 40m (20m across?). Nope.
Remember the targets will be using consumer portables with maybe a short indoor wire for RX.

Due to Iranian jamming on 7842 kHz, the Farsi/Persian-language Numbers-Station has returned to broadcasting on 7910 kHz.
Iranian jamming, however, has again followed the Numbers-Station and the radio-war is going on.
