@AxolotlAndy Palworld is an action game. Pokemon is a turn based RPG. You're basically saying you just don't like turn based combat, which is what many people like about Pokemon. That's why it has a competitive battling scene to begin with.

The thing is, Nintendo could have done something. For the better part of almost two decades Pokemon fans wanted an open world game where they can explore and see pokemon in the wild. They wanted to run around, catch them, battle trainers and actual players. They wanted to be able to interact with the ones they caught. Players wanted to live out the show but instead, year after year, it was the same formula being pushed out and finally someone took a majority of what people wanted over the years and made a legitimately incredible game. I had my reservations before, I never was a fan of survival/building games, but after just a hour of figuring things out I found myself loving it. Palworld, for a lot of people, is a game that takes all the good parts they enjoyed from other games and puts it all together in a complete package.

Just as a note, body temp went from 96 to 98.6 because it was standardized in Celsius as 37 degrees, then converted to 98.6F. The problem with this 98.6 F is way too precise (as a result of an extremely amateur chemistry 101-type significant figures error) and it should be represented as being between 98-100 F. This is a problem because a fever in Fahrenheit is defined as 100.4, but in Celsius it's 38 degrees. If you did the conversion properly, it would produce a range between 99.5 and 101.3 F as the threshold for a fever. But because doctors in the US use the improperly converted 100.4 as the threshold, many of them fail to appropriately recognize that people are genuinely sick.

I'll actually make the argument since this post is kind of terrible: Celsius is a naturalist temperature system, just like Kelvin. 0 and 100 degrees Celsius represent phase shifts of water. Systems like this work well for naturalist ends, such as scientific endeavors. Fahrenheit, not even entirely* on purpose but as a matter of circumstance, ended up scaling numbers more favorably towards human experience. Dan's focus was composite (highly divisible) numbers. Why? Because humans actually hate speaking and looking at fractions and decimals. Round numbers, wherever they are, are easier for us to understand, measure, and mentally track. The central temperature difference being recorded for humans was to put 64 degrees between water freezing and average human body temperature. Since 64 is 2^6, It's really, really easy to continuously divide on, say, a glass thermometer. You don't need precise measurements. Because the increments are so easy to bisect, a human is able to intuit the temperature distance between hot thing (internal body temp) and cold thing (water freezing) Pure water freezing at 32 (2^5) means you can more easily intuit the temperature difference between different brine solutions (0 being the coldest mixture he could produce in his lab) People that grew up on Fahrenheit don't typically know this trivia, but they understand the reality of the numbers. They *feel* it's easier to understand temperature differences (because the scale was made for them to mentally gauge, not perform hard calculations) They feel the temps 0 to 100 encompassing the general range of a human being's temperature experience to make better intuitive sense (If it's close to or under zero, I'm in danger. If it's close to or over 100, I'm in danger) And as it turns out, while not exactly what they mentally imagine, Dan Fahrenheit was actually making the most human-friendly temperature system possible. While the "composite whole number" aspect of the system fell to more precise calculations later (human temps went from 96 to 98.6) the chosen range works excellently for mental/napkin math and rough estimates made while doing actually productive things requiring more of our attention/brain power. Celsius and Kelvin fail in these categories. No offense to people adjusted to the Celsius longhouse, but we will keep our very human measurements. Not out of some irrational competition with Celsius, but because we psychologically favor them for non-scientific purposes 100% of the population is engaged with at all times. And also because we do what we want. We're American. Our world, not yours lol.

Fahrenheit is superior to Celsius and I’m tired of pretending this is a debate. Fahrenheit feels like temperature was designed by an human being who walks outside, feels the air, and says, “Yeah, that makes sense.” Zero is freezing. 100 is brutally hot. 70 is comfortable. 80 is warm. The numbers feel like what they are describing. Celsius feels like it was designed by a committee of people who hate joy and want every conversation about the weather to sound like a chemistry lab. “It’s 22 degrees outside.” What does that even mean to a normal person? Am I wearing shorts? Am I grabbing a jacket? Nobody knows. You need a conversion chart and a government employee standing next to you explaining the vibes. Fahrenheit gives you range. That’s the point. It gives you more numbers for the temperatures human beings actually live in. You can feel the difference between 68, 72, 76, and 80. Those numbers matter. Fahrenheit lets you describe the world with more precision without having to break into decimals like a lunatic. And here’s the other thing... Celsius is connected to the metric cult energy that came out of the French Revolution. And the French Revolution was evil. Both of the Revolution were to rip out tradition, faith, monarchy, hierarchy, the Church, the calendar, the clock, and anything that reminded man he was not God. CELSIUS IS INHERENTLY EVIL So yes, Celsius may be useful if you’re boiling water in a lab. Congratulations. But Fahrenheit is for living LIFE because Fahrenheit is for walking outside and instantly knowing what kind of day you’re about to have. 100 means hot. 70 means beautiful. Zero means don’t go outside unless you have a death wish. That’s a real system.
