Only just caught up with this older episode of “Inside the Network” with @zatlyn @Cloudflare impressively manages to keep shipping cool stuff despite their size, and she shares a bunch of down-to-earth, startup advice (even for non cyber-sec startups). pca.st/episode/9af0ba…

“I’ve seen a lot of places where you couldn’t pay me $2 million to live in them…but that’s what they’re selling for.” This is probably the most accurate picture of the Bay Area real estate market right now wsj.com/economy/housin…

New startup goal unlocked: 1) Build a $100B+ cybersecurity company. 2) Buy 5% of a Formula One team. 3) Watch the race from the Mercedes garage next to Toto Wolff. @George_Kurtz @CrowdStrike is a true legend 💪 Turns out endpoint security does lead to pit lane access!

Thank you @gadievron and @sounilyu for building [un]prompted conference in just 2 months - the programming, people, and community were genuinely impressive 👏. AI may or may not take our jobs, but one thing’s certain: you just gave every major conference organizer a reason to worry.

@sidtriv Thanks Sid! I particularly want to recognize the sacrifice that @gadievron had to make. With the events in the Middle East, he left home to ensure this conference would be a success when most everyone else (understandably) would stay home to take care of family during a war.

In case you picked this week to take a no-internet beach vacation, here’s what you missed... Feb 22 - Mexico’s top cartel leader, El Mencho, is killed by the Mexican Army with U.S. intelligence support, triggering widespread violence across several Mexican states. Feb 23 - The Dow Jones drops 800+ points (~2%) following the Citrini research report on a potential AI-driven economic downturn. Feb 24 - New 10% global tariffs take effect after a Supreme Court ruling overturns prior tariff authority. Feb 26 - Block (fka Square) cuts 4,000 jobs (~40% of its workforce), citing increased productivity from AI tools. Feb 26 - Paramount wins the bidding war for Warner Bros in a $110B deal that edges out Netflix. Feb 27 - Pakistan’s defense minister publicly declares an “open war” with Afghanistan as strikes and shelling escalate with reported casualties. Feb 27 - The U.S. Department of War labels Anthropic a national security supply-chain risk after the company refuses to remove certain safeguards from its Claude model, and the White House orders federal agencies to cease use. Feb 28 - Coordinated US & Israel military strikes on Iran kill Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and multiple senior commanders. Iran retaliates by launching missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and Gulf States, causing major airports (Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain) to shut down and international air travel to grind to a halt. At the same time, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz (where ~25% of daily oil production passes through) also slows. Mar 1 - Oil futures surge ~10% while stock futures dip ~1% as markets digest the fallout. #AI, markets, war, macro policy, M&A, and #geopolitics - all in one week. Feels less like real life and more like a blockbuster screenplay. If we’re all in a game right now, #founders are definitely playing on “hard mode.” And hard mode rewards clarity, resilience, and long-term thinking - not panic. Here’s hoping for calmer days ahead 🙏

@heynavtoor Looking forward to testing! Though I can tell you haven't been in investment banking before, as there is 0% chance that an MD, V,P or Associate would EVER do any analysis work. This work is and always has been given to analysts

10 years ago, I backed @andrewdfeldman before there was a company. Now, he is defining the future of AI. I first met Andrew in 2009 when he was building SeaMicro. Even back then, he stood out. He was a force of nature. Extremely intense. Deeply technical. A builder in the purest sense. You could feel the sparks flying off him. After Andrew joined AMD, we stayed in touch. Over the next year or so, we met 6-7 times. Sometimes in our office. Sometimes at a coffee shop in Portola Valley. Sometimes at our local tennis and swim club. We were talking, riffing on ideas and exploring what might be interesting or broken. Conversation after conversation, we kept coming back to one thing: deep learning workloads were growing exponentially and traditional compute architectures and data center models were buckling under that pressure. By the time Andrew and his all-star co-founders Sean Lie, Gary Lauterbach, Jean-Philippe Fricker and Michael James were ready to go all-in, we already had a deep belief in them. In fact, I asked Andrew if we could be his first term sheet. Shortly after our investment, @ericvishria from Benchmark, our co-lead in Cerebras’ first round joked with me “you did 2 years of work on Cerebras, I did 4 days.” A testament to Eric’s conviction in the opportunity. Fast forward 10 years and it has been an unbelievable journey. I’m both incredibly proud to have been the first partner in Cerebras and to call Andrew my friend. Watching the team overcome adversity after adversity to shape the most impactful technology of our lifetime has been a defining part of my last decade. And I still can’t wait for everything that is still to come. Keep at it my friend.

I finally got my X account back after 6 long days! Last week, I became a victim of a massive Turkish phishing attack. They tried to run a crypto scam using a project called Cartograph, changed my account to "XLegalAppeal" and attempted to phish ~150 other accounts. Cyber forensics on the offending IPs and domains reveal the hacker was from Istanbul / Kayseri, uses a rolodex of 60+ X impersonating domains over 1.5yrs with rotating IPs to execute their operation. I used my X archive to document exactly how they got me, what they did, and the play-by-play of how I recovered my account. I pray this does not happen to you.
