Seedance 2.0 has been out for a while now and is SOTA. Strangely, there's been little word from US Frontier Labs to counter it. Either they're foregoing it because they need and are reserving the compute resources (as with OpenAI) for the development and research of upcoming models, or Chinese companies have at least found a moat in text-to-video.

@JasenMitten as much as it pains me to say, if they wanted it to be successful, maybe they should've put Sora behind its own paywall. that could've made it worth it. personal opinion.

@signedbywill the real issue is openai keeps shipping products as demos and then quietly pulling back when the economics don't work. sora was impressive. the gap between impressive and profitable is where a lot of their products die. builders should stop betting on their consumer tools.

OpenAI has lost much credibility by nixing Sora. If it was far too expensive as a video generation tool, why move pass letting it be more than just image generating? Now, your direct competitor with Grok/Elon Musk is about to make moves and with less censorship.
