@BusyFooFighting @brandenflasch There is degradation involved of course. Its why we need more range so degradation can be mitigated. Extrapolating out my battery capacity is 57kWh which is 82kWh from factory.

Who believes BEV range is an issue has never tried a Tesla and no clue about BEVs. I don't even care about the state of charge before I start a long road trip simply because it doesn't matter as there are Superchargers everywhere.

BEV carry a large additional amount of dead mass. Vehicle fuel consumption is dominated by rolling resistance. The heavier the vehicle, the higher the energy consumption per metre traveled. Energy is proportional to the distance traveled and the mass (weight) of the vehicle. So no; BEV are intrinsically less efficient.

@Hello_World @janrosenow Your comment is somewhat misleading. OP refers to the renewable sources and not only solar and wind. Renewable sources account for 13-14% of world's total primary energy.

@janrosenow Wind and solar is still less than 1% of the worlds energy consumption but like the mouse and the elephant I am sure renewables think they are the elephant.
