US Soccer is not ready for primetime. I dont wanna be mean but this team is embarrassing. We’re never gonna actually be good at this sport as long as out D tier athletes play it. What a clown show

How big a crisis is this for Infantino ? Very, very big. FIFA can manipulate World Cup hosting votes and get away with it, but for many member nations when it potentially manipulates the result of a World Cup quarterfinal that is beyond what is acceptable.

The difference between Belgium and the United States is that in the United States we always want to beat the best. The US Mens team wouldnt have even taken the field if Belgiums best player was unfairly suspended. Apparently Belgium wants the easy way out Very sad European behavior
Fabrizio Romano@FabrizioRomano

🚨⚠️ OFFICIAL: Belgian Federation statement on Folarin Balogun red card case, saying they are “astonished”. “The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) is astonished by FIFA's decision to declare suspended United States player Folarin Balogun eligible to play in the USA–Belgium match on Monday, 6 July at 5:00 p.m. (Seattle time). FIFA bases its decision on Article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. This provision states that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee may decide to suspend the enforcement of a previously imposed disciplinary sanction. However, Article 66.4 of the same FIFA Disciplinary Code clearly provides that a red card (sending-off) automatically results in a suspension for the team's next match, as has been the case for all previous red cards issued during this FIFA World Cup. Furthermore, and irrespective of the above, the decision is in direct contradiction with the provisions of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Competition Regulations, as set out in Article 10.5: "If a player or team official is sent off as a result of a direct or indirect red card (second caution), they will automatically be suspended from their team's subsequent match. In addition, further sanctions may be imposed.” The automatic nature of such a suspension was also explicitly reaffirmed in FIFA World Cup 2026 Circular No. 16, which was distributed to all participating member associations on 12 May 2026. The same rule is reiterated at every FIFA World Cup 2026 Match Coordination Meeting prior to each match and is included in all FIFA World Cup 2026 workshop presentations. ❗️In order to safeguard the legitimate rights of all participating teams and to protect the fundamental principles of fair play in our sport, both at this FIFA World Cup and at future editions of the tournament, the RBFA is investigating all potential options.”

Queremos as grandes seleções classificadas!

Jim VandeHei@JimVandeHei

If you had to bet who’ll have the energy, organization, new ideas and star power for 28 Dems, it’s not close: socialists. The Sanders-Mamdani-AOC wing is swarming the Dem party, and Dem leaders will gradually than quickly do what establishment Rs did w Trump: acquiesce.

Guys, are you for real or just taking the piss at this point (pun intended)? The anti-doping system is based, and can only function, on the condition that athletes cannot refuse a test. Flat out refusing a test is not an "omission", it's blowing up the foundation of drugtesting.
John Millman@johnhmillman

The four-year ban for Vondrousova is so far too severe. Has never failed a test, was diligent with her whereabouts, and her only omission was refusing a test outside of her whereabouts times. Four-years… that’s crazy. Where’s the common sense gone?

So much pathetically gleeful ‘He’s finished!’ hate and mockery for @cristiano after one mediocre Portugal performance (by the whole team)… all of which he will use as fuel in Portugal’s second game tomorrow night. He’s the 🐐 for a reason, as he will show everyone.

To my Israeli friends: READ THE ROOM. As we all know the true situation in the Middle East is beyond complicated and well beyond the interests of the American electorate. Israel has completed failed to explain how it sees the situation. Completely. Assume for the moment that you the disatisfied Israelis are right about everything substantive (which you are not…but let’s assume). You’re right about Iran being a danger to Europe. Assume you are right about Gaza. Assume you are right about Lebanon. Even assume you are right about targeted killings. Assume you are right about the diaspora being weak moralizing pussies. Assume you are right about the PA and Tunnels and Arabs using Hospitals, Press Credentials, Churches, the UN, children and Mosques as military cover. Etc. We all know the issues. Yes? Assume you are right about everything else except one thing: YOU NEVER MADE THAT CASE WORK!! Yes Trump is signing a bad deal. But why?? Brace yourselves: Because we Jews failed to make a case. I may have tried but I have failed. I personally failed. Me. I own it. But with you, you didn’t know you were failing. I came back to Israel to Jaffa, Jerusalem, TA and Israeli podcasts to yell and scream about this. But you didn’t listen. You are failing to make both the true arguments that are in your favor and your weak arguments as well. You don’t have the people in government or the press or the army you need to win the arguments you must win. Your market allocated almost all of the A-Team to your tech sector. YOU/WE CANNOT AFFORD THIS. I’m extremely upset about this situation as an American. Israel is far more accurate in her thinking about Iran than is the U.S. This deal is bad for me as an ordinary American having nothing to do with you. This is just a bad deal. But we’re here because we Jews (Israel + the Diaspora) screwed up holding an unbelievable hand which we misplayed. And while I’m willing to say I failed, you are not. And over that I am livid. Because I screwed up a fraction of what you screwed up. When we diaspora Jews with an audience stood up, you often undercut us where we live while we were making legitimate points that benefited. Europe, Israel, ordinary Persians and the U.S. Why? We don’t know. My feeling is that you endangered the United States and the Diaspora and you don’t even know it. Start by accepting that there is a price for failing to make your case. Even when you are 100% right. So…This is now the deal. Because we failed to make even the simplest of correct points. Let’s eat the loss. It’s time for a new PM. And to thank President Trump. Say the words: Thank you Mr Trump. And if those words burn in your or my mouth or cut like broken glass, so be it. ———— Thank you Mr President. For listening. For trying. I hate this deal and I have often been a detractor. That said: Thank you nevertheless for trying to make the world a safer place by confronting what no one else could dare face. 🙏
