Sometimes I see singles or married couples without kids talking about how they would never want to “give up their weekends.”
But what they never talk about is what you *get* when you make that “trade” for marriage and kids.
We were up bright at and early today, as a whole family, and off to soccer for my two oldest boys. They love it. It’s pushing them, physically and mentally, and as a dad it’s such a joy to see them having fun and developing.
Then after soccer we all went to—you guessed it—Costco. Ate lunch in the food court. And yeah, it’s crowded, and the tables are small, but sitting there with my family, my wife, my three boys, and our fourth almost here, it was a blast. I loved it.
Finally, we popped into a locally owned comic book/action figure/trading card store.
Yeah, my weekends aren’t mine. Haven’t been for a long time now. But they are full of life, laughter, and sometimes crying kids (the three year old broke down leaving the comic book store because it’s past his nap time).
Would I trade any of this for more “freedom” to indulge a different lifestyle? Not for a second.
Get married. Have kids. Enjoy a full life together.
What you get in return is far more than you give up.

If you read any historical diaries, you will find very quickly that it didn't take long at all for women to realize being breeding stock wasn't fun.
It was a huge reason women became nuns.

I have bulging discs and lost three back teeth. I have to lean to the left a little to fully empty my bladder because something healed crookedly. I have at least two debilitating migraines a year that cause stroke symptoms, which started when I was pregnant with my first. I love my children very much but they wrecked my body in serious ways. You sound childish, unprepared, and ignorant to me when you focus on stretch marks over how you can die.
