BREAKING NEWS The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2025 #NobelPrize in Chemistry to Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson and Omar M. Yaghi “for the development of metal–organic frameworks.”

BREAKING NEWS The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2025 #NobelPrize in Physics to John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret and John M. Martinis “for the discovery of macroscopic quantum mechanical tunnelling and energy quantisation in an electric circuit.”

Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson and Omar M. Yaghi have been awarded the 2025 #NobelPrize in Chemistry for the development of a new type of molecular architecture. In 1989, chemistry laureate Richard Robson tested utilising the inherent properties of atoms in a new way. He combined positively charged copper ions with a four-armed molecule; this had a chemical group that was attracted to copper ions at the end of each arm. When they were combined, they bonded to form a well-ordered, spacious crystal. It was like a diamond filled with innumerable cavities.

Few weeks ago I had the pleasure to present my work at the International Symposium on Molecular Spectroscopy @molspect at UIUC. There I met researchers from all over the world. Also, I got very useful information about the research opportunities at USA’s National Laboratories.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to present our latest works at 48th Midwest Southeast Photosynthesis Conference in Turkey Run State Park, Indiana, USA. I had a nice time there. We had some productive scientific discussions. Also, this is my first public speaking experience.

We employed broadband two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy on intact phycobilisomes, primary light-harvesting protein complex in Cyanobacteria. Our study finds that ultrafast excitation energy transfer processes in phycobilisomes occur via vibronic coherence pathways.
