@sinideasequisd as i mention, jax always went one step forward and three steps back. this doesn’t change the fact he became a different character after episode 6 that was not near as intolerable as he was in previous episodes.

@Zephyr24268 of course, and its not inherently a poor decision for goose to choose to double down on this message but for people who see themselves in jax, its delivery can shatter the positive attitude the rest of the cast try to pacify you with. takes you out from the story if you will.

@silvrrbell it’s real, it shouldn’t happen but it happens. l wouldn’t have much of a problem with Jax not abstracting but giving something more grounded in reality instead of just hope is not bad imo

@Zephyr24268 i understand, but i dont see tragic as a good direction here. its certainly an executable path goose wanted to take, but tragedy felt like the most straightforward route for jax, and the message behind it is quite outlandish considering the show's otherwise hopeful outlook

@silvrrbell Overall I think the fact that he abstracted in spite of signs of redemption makes it much more tragic. You can take steps to become more mentally healthy but a disaster like Caine “dying” can reverse it. It shows something that can very much unfortunately happen IRL

this is why i really dont like everyone saying "ultimately this was the only option left for jax out of his own doing", he says that himself, yknow, when hes at the height of his misery. that doesnt necessarily make it true? that was a writing decision.

biggest contenders are jax being confronted by zooble on this TWICE. in ep 7 he brushes them off and runs off. but in episode 8, he attempts to leave and gives in, rejoining the group. a direct change in his character. when pomni asks him to be here later, he was.
