The Prime Minister of Singapore broke down in tears during a public speech. On the surface, it seemed like he was moved by something he read, but in reality, it is because he is under tremendous pressure — and people under that kind of stress tend to get emotional very easily, which is an experience that we all have to some extent. Where does this pressure come from? Singapore doesn't seem to have any pressing issues, does it? It of course comes from the fact that he has led Singapore to choose the United States in the U.S.-China rivalry and he knows China is fully aware of this choice. There is no turning back for Singapore. Meanwhile, the U.S. is visibly in decline, especially after Iran war, which makes him deeply anxious about Singapore’s future. Leaders of more neutral countries — such as Malaysia or Vietnam — clearly do not bear this kind of pressure. As for this Singaporean PM, I have nothing more to say. You made your choice — now you must live with the consequences.

ahmad dhani mengalami fase populer, tanpa diiring pendidikan formal di jenjang perguruan tinggi. boleh dibilang, dia termasuk outlier. tapi ya ga sepenuhnya outlier. ortunya termasuk politisi kondang. tapi ya risikonya, spt yg kita lihat skrg. gaya bicara dan gaya bahasanya ga napak tanah. ketika jadi pejabat legislatif, dan era sosmed. baru ketaker kalau dia benar2 susah diajak ngomong normal. itu buka kelebihan, tapi mmg ya dia ga bs normal kyk kita cara komunikasinya.

@Widdrat @simchansimchan @agent_of_change Napoleonic wars the sale of Louisiana helped napoleon in his war, both world wars the Americans tilted the direction of the war. The sole reason the US gets involved is to not have one single power dominate the old world. Unfortunately, this is a constant threat hanging above all

Europeans used to be big fans of green energy, but now that the Chinese are leading the way they seem to be changing their minds. “China dominates green tech, producing about 90 per cent of the world’s solar modules, more than 80 per cent of wind turbines and 80 per cent of battery cells, as well as controlling wider supply chains for rare earth and semiconductor materials.” Europe apparently needs to be mindful that “we don’t replace one set of dependencies on fossil fuel imports with a dependency on Chinese low-carbon technology.” One of the reasons for caution is that “China was likely to restrict supply of low-carbon technology and components”. It’s worth noting that China would only ever do such a thing in a context where Europe was engaged in aggression against it. So the question for Europeans is: what’s more important, preventing climate catastrophe, or reserving the right to participate in hot and cold war on China? A very revealing sentence: “An under-appreciated risk was that the US could demand Europe remove Chinese technology from its energy systems — or face tariffs, sanctions or reduced security commitments.” This is a stark admission that Europe is likely to be forced into subjugating its own interests to those of the Project for a New American Century. All pretty pathetic.

@agent_of_change Carlito, come on man. This is only one extreme scenario. In the adult world everything is about leverage. So if Europe becomes dependent on China, in future deals china can leverage green tech to get better deals for itself. This is what we want to avoid.

Prabowo says “smart” people are free to leave if they believe the nation is moving toward a “dark age”: “Matanya buram, Indonesia gelap. Indonesia terang. 。。

How To AI
How To AI@HowToAI_·
Yann LeCun was right the entire time. And generative AI might be a dead end. For the last three years, the entire industry has been obsessed with building bigger LLMs. Trillions of parameters. Billions in compute. The theory was simple: if you make the model big enough, it will eventually understand how the world works. Yann LeCun said that was stupid. He argued that generative AI is fundamentally inefficient. When an AI predicts the next word, or generates the next pixel, it wastes massive amounts of compute on surface-level details. It memorizes patterns instead of learning the actual physics of reality. He proposed a different path: JEPA (Joint-Embedding Predictive Architecture). Instead of forcing the AI to paint the world pixel by pixel, JEPA forces it to predict abstract concepts. It predicts what happens next in a compressed "thought space." But for years, JEPA had a fatal flaw. It suffered from "representation collapse." Because the AI was allowed to simplify reality, it would cheat. It would simplify everything so much that a dog, a car, and a human all looked identical. It learned nothing. To fix it, engineers had to use insanely complex hacks, frozen encoders, and massive compute overheads. Until today. Researchers just dropped a paper called "LeWorldModel" (LeWM). They completely solved the collapse problem. They replaced the complex engineering hacks with a single, elegant mathematical regularizer. It forces the AI's internal "thoughts" into a perfect Gaussian distribution. The AI can no longer cheat. It is forced to understand the physical structure of reality to make its predictions. The results completely rewrite the economics of AI. LeWM didn't need a massive, centralized supercomputer. It has just 15 million parameters. It trains on a single, standard GPU in a few hours. Yet it plans 48x faster than massive foundation world models. It intrinsically understands physics. It instantly detects impossible events. We spent billions trying to force massive server farms to memorize the internet. Now, a tiny model running locally on a single graphics card is actually learning how the real world works.

do you understand what Kimi just did.. because nobody is talking about it yet.. in January, DeepSeek open-sourced a model that crashed Nvidia $600 billion in a single day.. forced Sam Altman to make ChatGPT free the same week. now a second Chinese lab just did it again.. Kimi K2.6. an AI coding agent that runs 4,000 tool calls in a single session.. 12 hours of continuous execution. 300 parallel sub-agents building entire codebases from one prompt.. open-source.. weights on HuggingFace right now. SOTA on SWE-Bench Pro. SOTA on BrowseComp. SOTA on HLE. beating every closed model behind billion-dollar paywalls... OpenAI charges $200/month for Pro. Anthropic just raised at $60 billion. Google is spending $75 billion on infrastructure this year. and two Chinese labs.. funded on a fraction of that.. keep giving away for free what American companies tell investors requires tens of billions to build. the AI arms race isn't US vs China. it's closed vs open. and closed keeps losing. this is the second time in four months. there will be a third.

This is quite something: Malaysia's Foreign Minister says the U.S. are holding the world as "ransom" with their blockade of Hormuz and are "causing enormous harm to the world." Full quote here (from bernama.com/bm/am/news.php… and kosmo.com.my/2026/04/14/mal…): "I don't know the purpose [of the U.S. blockade], because the Strait of Hormuz should not be besieged. Previously, Iran had agreed to open the strait on condition that the 10 points raised during the Islamabad negotiations be accepted by the US. [Blocking the route] will further worsen the world's economic, agricultural and energy situation - it will become more acute. A war between America and Iran, or Iran and Israel - that is their war. The world cannot be made a ransom [hostage] for any purpose whatsoever, and likewise America cannot act this way, because the world will face huge problems. As I said earlier, [we ask that] they [the US] reconsider this siege - no going in, no going out through the Strait of Hormuz - because it is causing enormous harm to the world. We ask the US to lift whatever form of blockade so that commercial shipping can pass through, and we ask Iran to also consider, for the welfare of the peoples of the world, allowing ships to transit the Strait of Hormuz." This is a very unusually strong statement by Malaysia, typically fairly soft-spoken. Importantly there is a regional aspect to this because neighboring Singapore has also been vocal on this issue but solely against Iran, they haven't said anything - that I could see - against the U.S. blockade even though the legal and economic logic is virtually identical in both cases. One could argue it's "smart" of Singapore not to antagonize the U.S. except that Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore's FM, specifically said in his own statement against Iran's blockade (mfa.gov.sg/newsroom/press…) that he was upholding "principle, not taking sides" and that free passage in Hormuz contains "no exception for security, no exception for the environment, and no exception for war." Those are his words, not mine. If that is really the standard then it's Malaysia - not Singapore - that is upholding it right now in asking both the US and Iran to let ships through. For all the legal precision of Balakrishnan's speech, Singapore seems to be defending only half of it.

🚨 CHINA JUST PUT UAE IN ITS PLACE — IN PUBLIC 🔥 During the official visit of UAE Presidential Advisor Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed, China completely broke diplomatic protocol and delivered a crystal-clear fiery message: “We are the ones who decide who our allies are!” Beijing made it brutally clear: ✅ Friendship with the Emirates has NO limits ✅ ZERO tolerance for any interference in China-Iran relations ✅ Any attempt to drive a wedge between China and Iran will fail This is not just diplomacy — this is China flexing its superpower status and reminding Abu Dhabi of the massive power gap. The photo from the grand hall in Beijing says it all. Who’s really running the show in the region now? 👇

I love it how this triggered the Singaporeans. I love Singapore, but it’s very obvious to me that their whole national raison d’être is to put Malaysia down. They are still majorly butthurt that they were supposedly kicked out of the union (when in reality they wanted to leave, as they should have) and they seem to have some kind of inferiority complex where they just have to constantly put Malaysia down. It’s very easy to believe their trash talk about Malaysia if you’ve never been to Kuala Lumpur (and we should compare large city to city only). Of course Malaysia isn’t as developed as Singapore, but it’s nowhere as bad as they like to paint it. The truth is Malaysia is one of the most powerful nationalities right up there with the Singaporean passport (see the list of the first world passports for the automatic passport scan gates in the EU) and Singaporeans just can’t deal. Won’t go into details here - Kuala Lumpur does fall short on some aspects as compared to Singapore - but the reality is that a middle class employee has a much better quality of life in KL than in Singapore (they can actually afford cars and condos) while a middle class Singaporean is stressed and rushed and packed into crowded public transport and tiny HDBs. Also Singapore isn’t as rich or truly developed first world country as they like to imagine it - there is a lot of hidden poverty and misery in Singapore (you see severely disabled people having to sell tissues to survive or the very elderly having to work), and how they treat their maids and laborers is as bad, if not worse, as in poor countries. At least middle class Malaysians can afford to put their maids in a room larger than a literal box, unlike Singaporeans.

One of the most shameless and largest scale food culture heists in history is Singapore appropriating what is Malaysia’s multiethnic cuisine and selling it to the entire world as uniquely Singaporean. I say this as someone who was scammed for more than a decade. Stay safe out there, fellow appreciators.
