@samjgarforth Ah that one. I co-starred with Kaley Cuoco in The Flight Attendant S1 with that picture also. 😀 What episode was it in and I’ll have a look later?

@the_mighty_atom Not too bad but definitely more fun in the dry when you can get some speed up.

Day off. Thought would be nice to go for a bike ride as not been out for a while. 30km of rain followed by 20km of this! Still, was good to be out again although looking forward to when it is dry!

I don’t think a bit of sand is going to fix this

I am assuming this isn’t good. One of the block paving blocks on my front step has collapsed. Suggesting that the underneath layers have eroded away. I assume I need a patio/blockpaving person to look at it? I fear the whole lot needs taking up which doesn’t sound cheap.

Update. The top one is an £8 switch cover from Amazon that has a metal bit for the Philips smart button’s magnet to connect to. The complete ecosystem switch to Hue was a touch more than £8 though…

Help. I have some smart bulbs connected to HomeKit. I want a wall switch that can trigger HomeKit scenes (to turn ceiling light and desk lamp on and off and set different colours) but not actually turn off the power. I have old wiring. [cont]

@jeremyforshew I saw a few Shelly reviews that said they are a bit flaky after a bit. I ordered a load of hue lights last night. Then had cold feet this morning given the cost…to light a 1.5x2m cubby office….! I couldn’t cancel so have a few days to decide whether to send them back!

@simon_greig Shelly couldn’t be easier if you’re happy to flash with uncertified code. I use them with HomeKit for gate automation etc. V straightforward (and cheap) ;)

@amgarratt Don’t think so. My now preferred option is to replace the switch with a ‘key switch’ and then stick a Hue remote switch over the top. Accessible to turn off if needed with no risk of anyone turning the switch off. 25% discount on new Hue stuff at the moment also.

@simon_greig The neutral issue is what drove us to Lightwave - from what I understand, they are ‘on’ all the time but effectively dimmed right down to near nothing. When you first install, the calibrate to your bulbs to stop flickering etc. Does anyone have a neutral to UK light switches?

@amgarratt Sadly Eve needs neutral. Also found Broadlink is cheap but doesn’t currently work with HomeKit. I am now exploring whether to just hard wire the live to the switch out put a blank plate on and then stick a battery or kinetic unwired switch on top. Or just switch to Hue lights

@simon_greig Nanoleaf is hub-less, so is Elgato/Eve kit. Hue is another ‘you need a hub so only really worth it with a few devices’ one..

@samjgarforth You need lightwave on all switches if more than one switch controls the light. Lightwave works with HomeKit but it needs a £130 hub which is the blocker for me at the moment.

@simon_greig I had a lightwaverf switch in my old house. I tried putting it in this house and the black and red wiring was ok but turned out not to work as the room had two switches for the same light. Don’t know if it works with HomeKit.
