It should not be controversial to assert that Palestinian lives matter just as much as Israeli lives. Or that Black lives matter just as much as white lives. These are matters of fact. The equality and value of human lives should never be up for debate.

Are there any other teachers genuinely finding time to enjoy their lives right now? It’s exceptionally difficult for me to find time for joy right now.

Nothing makes me happier than when I'm writing something, going to check Grammarly, and having next to no grammatical errors.

I'm such a pack rat that never throws away anything to the point that I'm still finding notes from my students at CDI. And the notes still make me smile from ear to ear.

I can't stop thinking about this James Baldwin quote:“I think this nation should be, for the foreseeable future, in mourning; one must face the fact that this Christian nation may never have read any of the Gospels, but they do understand money.”

Never forget that the first Memorial Day was created by formerly enslaved Black folk in Charleston, SC less than a month after the Confederacy surrendered. On May 1, 1865 more than 10,000 freed slaves gathered at Washington Race Course and Jockey Club, parading around the race track and sang songs to honor the fallen they had buried the day before.

On this day in 1955, Claudette Colvin,15, was arrested for refusing to give her seat to a white woman on a public bus in Montgomery, Alabama. She was arrested 9months before Rosa Parks, but NAACP didn't want her to represent their organization because she was 15 and pregnant.

"A New Spelling of Our Name": Born Frederick Kittel, he would rename himself "August Wilson." The only American playwright in history to publish a play set in every decade of the 20th century--he would go on to win the Pulitzer Prize TWICE: for "Fences" & "The Piano Lesson."
