@BMAResidents Let’s remember a) the BMA negotiated all the pay deals the they are complaining about and sold the workforce on them. B) it looks bad because the BMA signed a great multi year pay deal in 2018. Starting 2019! We had a pandemic which pushed up inflation! No one else’s fault!
English

Resident doctors’ pay is down by more than a fifth, but no doctor is worth less than they were in 2008.
Today we strike again in England to show the Government we won’t back down until they make a credible offer.

@EdanaThe2nd @anaesthetic_spr Really?? When I have back pain - love to see a physio - what’s a dr going to do? Give pain killers - doesn’t sort the physical reason. At what point do people realise Drs don’t actually TREAT people!
English

@anaesthetic_spr This just shows ignorance that there is difference between an APP and and ACP. Oh my god wait till you find out Pharmacists are going to qualify as prescribers! Your feeble mind will simply explode!
English

@UKGastroDr @GMJacobAagaard And who negotiated the previous contracts which lead to real term cuts?? Hmm wouldn’t that be … The BMA. As a profession drs negotiated a multi year contract, which would have made salaries higher. Unfortunately the pandemic tanked the economy but you still got your contract!
English

Your anecdotal experience during the pandemic does not represent what was happening across hospitals. Twice we came within 2 weeks of the NHS becoming overwhelmed & the army having to be called in.
You suggest wealth has been redistributed to the low paid, yet poverty has never been higher and many working people still require tax credits to supplement their income to afford to live.
When you talk about Doctors pay, salaries have dropped by a third in real terms over 15 years - much more than the majority of other workers in the country.
English

The media love to vilify Doctors - ultimately because many of the British public despise us.
They banged pans when we risked our lives during the pandemic. Yet when it comes to T&Cs, our salaries are compared to the UK average 🤦🏻♂️
The public will get the NHS they deserve!

I’m always at a loss to understand why the BMA feel they need “public support”for pay disputes & industrial action. You have a mandate from your members. Sending BMA reps to a hostile press who enjoy the sport of denigrating doctors serves no purpose imo.
English

@DrJPGannon @Anniedroid_ Yes because BMA is a union and you don’t need to be allowed to be a dr to register with a union! That’s discrimination! Lawsuits!
Therefore inherently useless and unsafe.
Also, the BMA have a register just for Drs (who want anything to do with the BMA) it’s called membership
English

@Anniedroid_ Will this include registrants who have been struck off the current GMC register or who have restrictions in place🤔
English

@RobLaurensonD4P @TheBMA The government and the public are not stupid! This is a blatant attempt to circumvent the GMC but have Drs union police Drs. The BMA really has no ethics
English

It’s happening!!
@TheBMA is creating a new register for only doctors!
A new register leading the way to a new regulator!

Dr Robert Laurenson@RobLaurensonD4P
😏
English

@RobLaurensonD4P @TheBMA As a union ANYONE who is a Dr can sign up therefore how do you plan on safeguarding against those struck off joining your new list without being sued for discrimination if you don’t allow them.
The regulator? That’s hypocrisy!
You can’t - therefore it is inherently unsafe!
English

@RobLaurensonD4P @TheBMA I ld really like to know to what end?
You have a dr only register, it’s called your membership list.
Under GDPR You can only hold the information of your members or people who volunteer this -why would you do this without being a member.
English

@san____ Shouldnt have told you off but any chance you’re not aware of who pays for it? You’ve assumed it’s NHS funded. Many wards fund own tea and coffee so what might be 1 teabag for you, is lots of others doing the same, there’s a box. Paid for by the nurses, drunk by everyone but.
English

@BBCPolitics @bbclaurak @BBCOne Winding up NHSE is going to take 2 years. The staff will abandon this long before! another demoralised workforce.
@Keir_Starmer announced the abolishment - without informing NHSE staff first. Imagine hearing you’re going to be unemployed on TV! #bbclaurak

@BBCPolitics @bbclaurak @BBCOne @wesstreeting lauding about savings. Need to pay 9000 people redundancy! £500 million is a literal drop in the ocean to an NHS that spends £130BILLION!
£500m is literally the overspend of 5 large NHS trusts. That’s it. 5!
English

@BBCPolitics @bbclaurak @BBCOne @wesstreeting makes no difference! simply tinkering around the edges of the NHS - making 9000 people unemployed! The NHS IS functional but is clogged by 35000 people who need social care - no effort to fix this. Complains about palliative care in the UK but doesn’t fund it!
English

@Xeon4f145d96s1 T is amazing. British medicine is eating itself alive. It knows it but it just doesn’t care anymore.
So many falling for this BS. All going to lower the standards of Drs in the UK (why actually try when your guaranteed a job). The poor public. All paths lead to privatisation!
English

@AnnaKateBarton This shows your ignorance to the MDT rather than anything else
English

@rheumipainmask @Dr__Sarmy So you already stripped all your money from the NHS. Vested interest then.
And clearly no longer aware of the situation.
Having lead your profession down the path, you pushed it off the cliff.
Good evening to you
English

@simondunphy2 @Dr__Sarmy I’m retired - just a patient who is aware of the situation rather than making up things
I believe you are trolling rather than being genuinely interested and I’m in too much pain to bother.
Good evening
