Go game and math teacher -- Math learning in the game of GO
Classroom competition at Bell School! This Go tournament highlighted the power of game-based learning for developing leadership and decision-making skills. Congrats to the champions and everyone saw their skills level up.

In the first half of the 2025–26 school year, we reached 4,000+ students in 10+ schools through Go. Go supports math learning, decision-making, and cultural exchange. Thanks to the teachers — we hope to reach even more classrooms next year! (1/3)

Last week, 600 students from Chicago’s Lindblom Math & Science Academy learned the game of Go, building strategic thinking, practicing decision-making, and experiencing one of the world’s oldest strategy games.

On the morning of July 29, I was honored to step into the world of Hokusai and the Masters of Japan at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art, College of DuPage, surrounded by inspiring leaders from across DuPage County. This groundbreaking exhibition, unfolding from May 31 through September 21, 2025, brings over 50 original Edo-period paintings, woodblock prints, and handcrafted treasures to the U.S. for the first time. These luminous gems come from the Museo d’Arte Orientale in Genoa, Italy—where Director and Head Curator Aurora Canepari weaves Italy’s cultural stories as she leads the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. Here, three nations—Italy, the U.S., and Japan—are joined in a vibrant dance of art and shared heritage. Spanning more than 10,000 square feet, the exhibit is a living tapestry: Edo-era streetscapes come alive, interactive manga and anime invite wonder, children’s laughter fills dedicated spaces, samurai spirits echo through artifacts, and themed delights engage the senses. This journey through Hokusai’s world whispers that true artistry knows no boundaries—time and place dissolve before its beauty. More than an exhibition, this is a celebration—a heartbeat that connects U.S. and Japan in friendship, a reminder that culture is the thread weaving us all together. Deep thanks to Diana Martinez, Director of the McAninch Arts Center, whose visionary spirit guides this journey; to Justin Witte, Director and Curator of the Cleve Carney Museum of Art, whose care shaped this extraordinary experience; and to Dr. Muddassir Siddiqi, President of College of DuPage, and Deborah Conroy, Chair of the DuPage County Board, whose steadfast support and hospitality make this possible. Thank you for breathing life into Japan’s rich heritage here in Illinois. I eagerly await my return this Saturday to hear from Yayoi Shinoda, Associate Curator at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art (@nelson_atkins), promising new light on these timeless masterpieces. #Hokusai #CollegeOfDuPage #CleveCarneyMuseum #McAninchArtsCenter #JapaneseArt #USJapanRelations #CulturalExchange #PublicDiplomacy #DuPageCounty #ArtUnitesUs #JapanInTheMidwest
Ten classes of students at Chicago Healy Elementary are now part of our Go game–based learning program. Through playing Go, they’re building math skills, strengthening critical thinking, and learning how to make thoughtful decisions.
