Today is my two year anniversary of getting diagnosed with ADHD. I wrote about it in 2020 and thought I’d share it again. Hopefully it might help those who’ve had false narratives set by others and know that they don’t need to suffer silently. irishnews.com/lifestyle/2020…

Some news. After 15 years working in the media, I’ve gone back to university, studying full-time for a Graduate Diploma in Law. Hoping to find myself back in newsrooms in the future to fight the good fight in a different capacity. Thanks to those on here who supported me

Maybe the Government could let wealthy boomers keep their winter fuel allowance in return for a year of national service?

Baffling how policy makers can’t see the link that investing to help people achieve their full potential with life-changing meds increases productivity and growth, whilst at the same time easing the burden on mental health services and the benefits system bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Republicans: we must tone down the inflammatory rhetoric. Also Republicans: the UK is now an Islamic state.

@DisaterXonify Considering protestors march past a building where MPs have to pledge allegiance to the head of the Church of England, whilst a flag with the Christian cross flies outside; no, I don't think it's a sign of Islamism.

My column in @CityAM If Starmer is serious about restoring trust he should end the era of client journalism and face up to real scrutiny from journalists who know what they’re talking about cityam.com/grown-up-polit…

Thames Water keeps declining to speak to us on the programme to address customers’ concerns, so we put this invitation to them directly on air, again, this evening on @BBCLondonNews

All I'm saying is that if *I* was trying to pull off the biggest jailbreak in history, I'd establish myself as the world's most beloved keycutter, and then get appointed Prisons Minister.

@jameshardy61 @charlesarthur Completely see that briefing lobby avoids tough specialist Qs. But specialists aren’t always looking for an angle. So much of what makes them a specialist is background briefings and learning their beat. Their questions tend to be tough but fair.

@SimonNeville @charlesarthur I don’t disagree but it’s unlikely, an ex pol corr writes. Specialists know their beat but pol corrs are policy generalists. Ministers often prefer briefing pol corrs on, say, new initiatives because usually they won’t know the difficult questions to ask. Yes, it’s that cynical!

100% this. Government ministers also need to engage far more beyond the lobby too. Business desks, social affairs correspondents, transport editors, health reporters etc. Journalism and Government will be better for it.
David Aaronovitch@DAaronovitch

Time for the policy specialists to step up and the political correspondents to retreat. We need to understand what’s being proposed and whether it’ll work, not endlessly opine on whether Labour will face threats in 2029

This is an example for media too. Hire a housing correspondent who’s known social housing or homelessness. Hire a health corr who’s worked in health. Hire an education corr who’s been a teacher. Don’t assume PPE/ posh school teaches anything about the nation we report on.
Ian Dunt@IanDunt

Take it in. The first female chancellor. The first housing secretary who's actually lived in social housing. The first education secretary who was on free school meals. An energy secretary who actually believes in aggressively fighting climate change. Not a bad afternoon.

After 17 years, I am now on gardening leave from the @Daily_Express, Sunday Express and @DailyMirror. I have worked with some amazingly people, who I will miss. But is now time for the next chapter in my life: I’m going to take a short break before I return to work.

@DanNeidle Certainly strange, because journalists have been allowed to live tweet from actual courtrooms for 15 years without an application. Something you'd think a panel of solicitors would already know... ipso.co.uk/news-press-rel…

I firmly believe defamation lawyers should be personally accountable when they act unethically. Perfectly fair to criticise him. Hopefully unnecessary to add: abuse of any kind is completely out of order, and harassment potentially criminal.
