How does repeatedly kicking a terrorist in the head disarm him? The first priority should’ve been to grab his hands to remove the knife & to prevent him detonating a bomb And why are police interviews & media reports not mentioning that he also stabbed a Muslim man?
Owen Jones@owenjonesjourno

Hold on - what? If police officers think someone might be carrying explosives, protocol is to kick them in the head repeatedly like this? Is that actual police protocol? If so, how is it a wise police protocol? Can someone explain the reasoning?

@simonspudwynn @tomhfh If you've worked in a distribution centre and a store you'll know they're not the same type of job.

@JockAyeTheNoo @tomhfh Well next have already won their claim..so its just a waiting game now before they all lose.. When Walmart sold asda a billion was set aside for when asda loses the pay claim and have to pay out it's staff.. So they know they are on shakey ground

@tomhfh What baffles me is usdaw, gmb, leigh day using the "woman on a till/male warehouse" argument..these are fundamentally different jobs, zero transferable skills..shopfloor staff and warehouse staff absolutely but not till staff..

@julianHjessop A few weeks ago when polling was at 70+% for rejoining when it was explained what we'd lose that 70% dropped to 30%...it's clear millions of kids think rejoining the EU mean then won't need a visa anymore

"We want the UK back in EU but no cherry-picking our rules this time, top MEPs tell Metro" Would be interesting to see more polling on whether Brits really want to rejoin if this means losing the budget rebate, joining Schengen and adopting the euro...🤔 metro.co.uk/2026/04/29/wan…

Can you imagine the media outcry if a @reformparty_uk broadcast made up of things @UKLabour politicians actually said was banned? BBC would lead on it. Right wing rags would go wall to wall full frenzy. MAGA influencers would pile in with their free speech BS. When it is the other way round … not a peep. Double standards born of bias created and driven by the tax exile billionaire class who run most of our media. Meanwhile I suggest you sit and watch the London Marathon in the city yet again voted the best in the world and despite the MAGA Farage lies certainly one of the safest. Definitely more uplifting than listening to the endless news babble about a security scare that apparently shows why Trump needs a ballroom. UK and Europe far better and safer places to live than Trump’s USA. have a nice day. I intend to spend mine reading with the marathon on in the background and later, in another great U.K. city, the Hibs-Hearts derby, proof that despite the FIFA efforts to destroy the game thorough greed and pandering to political power, some football is still worth watching

@TerraOrBust I've been arguing with a guy who has claimed that closer ties to the EU would add £9b and increase GDP by 0.28%..... So not 4% or 8%

Our trade will grow fastest if we attach ourselves to the fastest-growing economies. 30 years ago, Western Europe and America were at the forefront of global economic growth. The EU's share of global GDP has fallen from 21% in 2000 to around 14% today. The IMF forecasts the EU will grow by just 1.3% this year, compared to 3.3% globally. Our future trading priorities need to reflect this new reality.

@DesmondSwayne @SteveBakerFRSA The triple lock is only an issue when the government loses control of inflation..nobody whinges when it's 1.5-2.0%....so don't lose control of inflation. We also need to drill into kids that they should open a private pension, the younger the better..

Many 10s, 20s & 30s already believe the Government simply won't have the money left to pay them a state pension We must do right by our children and grandchildren and return state pensions to normal growth, so they still have a viable state to inherit telegraph.co.uk/money/pensions…
