Back from fieldwork in Guatemala looking at Fuego PDC deposits for our @NERCscience project exploring generation mechanisms. We had a great team bringing together many skills and experiences. Excited to continue working on this also with those who weren’t in the field!

Two weeks ago, we were in Abruzzo 🇮🇹 studying a rock avalanche with a fantastic team from @Unibo. Excited to see the deposit's ER tomography soon... I do feel like a landslide doctor now🩻. Here's a preliminary graphic summary of the study—arrows and scale to come!

On the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion and illegal occupation of Cyprus, it is time to reunite the island. The ongoing illegal occupation of 37% of its territory has left #Cyprus divided. This wound remains open to this day. It’s time for Turkey to respect int law.

My home country, Cyprus 🇨🇾 , the only @EUCouncil member under illegal occupation from Turkey 🇹🇷, a @NATO member for half a century (50 years)! How can @NATO, a defensive alliance, support the illegal invasion and occupation of Cyprus by Turkey 🇹🇷? @vonderleyen @jensstoltenberg

This video is fascinating. The driver of a car in #Taiwan gets warning of an #earthquake and takes appropriate action, stopping in a rockfall shelter. And what a good job they did, as rockfalls inundated the road. Early warning systems save lives, so long as you have a plan.

Careers day at the @ourdynamicearthwas was so much fun! Talked about volcanoes 🌋, mass flows, landslides🏔️ and the work we do at @GeosciencesEd and the @BritGeoSurvey. Only some monopoly houses were harmed in the process of illustrating mass flow hazards.

@ecpbrear @COVolcanoes12 @IxchelProject Fieldtrip to Santiago Atitlán was a highlight. Stunning landscapes, happy memories; but also a lot to witness, experience, and absorb... Diverse volcanic processes surrounding the Tzu'tujil communities which generously welcomed us. Thank you all organisers @IxchelProject!

#CitiesOnVolcanos12 has been amazing! Presenting and attending interesting sessions, meeting old friends and new; discussing volcanology in stunning Antigua #Guatemala... I wish you didn't have to end volcano-filled #COV12. Hasta la proxima 🌋🇬🇹

On Day 1, we had a very long but amazing day. We met with four different groups in Panabaj, who talked about their stories and the realities of living in a high risk zone. #CoV12 @COVolcanoes12 @IxchelProject @GeosciencesEd

I have also presented a poster, illustrating granular flow experiments at @EarthSciPlymUni and discussing the importance of dynamic scaling in analogue experiments. It's not on the @COVolcanoes12 board today, but it is here!
