My personal issue with Lucifer in S2 isn’t that he acts childish or like… well… an idiot. My problem is that he feels like a completely different character. There’s nothing wrong with a character who lightens the tone with humor. What is wrong is when those jokes and actions directly contradict what he said or did in the previous season. There’s nothing wrong with a lighthearted ancient being. What’s wrong is that he wasn’t lighthearted before. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to tone down an all-powerful character, but there is something wrong when that makes him contradict his own backstory. I wrote a lot about this when the season came out, and honestly, no one has managed to convince me that what’s happening with this character has any real logic behind it. I still deeply love Lucifer from Season 1 and go back to those episodes from time to time. But the Season 2 version frustrates and repels me so much that I haven’t rewatched it even once since it came out. My completely unnecessary personal opinion? He was changed because fans loved him. The creators probably saw how popular he got and decided to lean into that. Hence the more “whiny,” “childish” performance from his VA (because apparently an adult acting like a child is supposed to be cute instead of creepy?). Seriously, go rewatch Season 1! Lucifer sounded like an awkward dad - an adult who doesn’t quite know how to interact with his grown daughter and her world. In Season 2, he sounds like a petulant child 80% of the time. (No shade to the voice actor, he was just doing his job and following direction.) I genuinely want to love him. I genuinely want to look forward to his story in Season 3. But I want the story of the disillusioned, slightly cynical dreamer from Season 1. I want to see the backstory of the guy who would drop everything and rush to help his child without a second thought. I want to see the backstory of the guy who was afraid of Heaven but still chose to trust Charlie and send her there. I want that interesting character. Not a story about a duck-obsessed idiot being manipulated by everyone around him, as if 10,000 years among the worst sinners wouldn’t teach you caution and awareness. I just want consistency and coherence in a character and their actions. Is that really too much to ask?

A beekeeper in Massachusetts has been arrested after unleashing an entire swarm of bees on police officers who were trying to evict an elderly cancer patient from his home. Over 1000 bees died in the struggle, and one officer had to be hospitalized for bee-related injuries.
