I made a name change for my disease surveillance tracker app; from EpiScope to EpiVigil after consideration of some factors; I also made some updates to the app. It can still be found at disease-tracking.netlify.app

JUST IN: ABIA HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY MOVES TO TACKLE NOISE POLLUTION BY WORSHIP CENTRES, HOTELS etc. In a substantial move to curb noise pollution in Abia State, the Abia House of Assembly under Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa received a motion today on the regulation of the use of loud outdoor speakers in residential areas. This significant motion, the H.A.M. 49 sponsored by the member representing Aba Central, Hon. Ucheonye Stephen Akachukwu, prayed the house to resolve the following: 1. That the House should urge the State Government, through the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) and other relevant agencies, to enforce the existing laws and regulations on noise control at the residential areas in the State with a view to ensuring that the level of noise in these areas does not exceed 55 decibels between 6am and 10pm. 2. That the House should urge the State Government to embark on a public awareness campaign on noise control to educate the citizens and organisations on the need to use soundproof equipment or limit loud noisy speakers in the residential areas. 3. That the House should urge the state government to designate specific areas for open-air loudspeaker activities to balance citizens' rights to worship, respect for the environment and residents' right to peace. Crucially, to ensure that this motion receives accelerated implementation, the speaker, Rt Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa, established that there are laws and regulations already in existence to this effect; however, he resolved that the house shall reach out to the various mayors of local government areas to enforce these laws in their jurisdiction.

This is what the skill revolution and reinvention of Igbo Apprenticeship (Igba Boi) will look like in the South East. Firstly, in the first month of their cohort, everyone gets a core foundation of basic skills in bricklaying, welding, plumbing, carpentry, auto mechanics, electricals, HVAC, tiling and POP. Also, we will teach them precision and quality as a core. This is where we have lacked a lot as a people. Then they are then assigned to selected industries according to their preferred proficiency. They engage in 3 weeks practicals (In the companies) and one week theoretical (in class trainings). The in class trainings will then include other areas like accounting, marketing, organizational setup, structuring a business etc. A final exam will be written after the program which we will give them a certificate. The program may last between 6 months to 12 months. They will also be paid while they learn and after the program they get “settled” with N5 million each, which they can use to start their own business. What do you think?

It was Monday morning. Femi had enjoyed his weekend, no bugs, no pressure, just the quiet excitement of starting a new week. He was a junior dev. Strong with frontend. Backend? Just enough to get by....nothing serious. Then the offer came in: “Can you build a wallet/payment app for us?” Femi paused. This wasn’t a project management app. This was money. Real users. Real transactions. He knew he wasn’t fully ready. But fear kicked in, fear of losing the opportunity, fear of going back to zero. and besides, he can vide code. So he said yes.

So this is how we are thinking of redesigning the Igbo apprenticeship program “Igba boy”. For the pilot program, we will likely take in 200 persons to engage in the training on global quality carpentry, bricklaying, tilling, plumbing, HVAC, POP and electricals. The trainees will engage in an intensive 1 year program which they will be housed and fed. No holidays during the program. An additional 3 months will be on business and commercialization. Once they complete the cohort and they meet the standards set, they will be settled with a good amount of money to build on the business arm of their skills. Those who don’t meet up will be dropped off from the program. We will be visiting training centers in Togo and Germany in the coming weeks to solidify our plans and training partnerships. Let’s brainstorm… what do you think?

So these APC supporters bought the convention's aso-ebi, sewed it, wore it, and left their respective homes to attend the convention to show their loyalty and support, only to be locked out of the venue and te@rgassed. Elderly men and women were choking and grasping for air. Is it a cr?me for our mamas and papas to stand on your mandate?

Nobody spends N10bn on Solar power in a house he's to vacate in less than 5 years at most. Tinubu isn't campaigning for just 2027. His body language says it all: He has a third term Agenda and more He's probably running a monarchy where Seyi will take over.

Yesterday, we commissioned Ultimum Beverages’ multimillion-dollar production facility in Aba, a landmark investment that reaffirms Abia State as a thriving hub for industry and innovation. This state-of-the-art plant, built by the Kadji Group, represents a bold commitment of over $35 million, with plans to scale up to $100 million. Beyond the impressive figures, this project is proof that Abia is back as an investment haven, a place where ideas flourish, businesses thrive, and opportunities abound. Since May 2023, our administration has worked tirelessly to reset the business ecosystem: strengthening infrastructure, restoring security, and creating a clean, supportive environment for investors. The confidence shown by Ultimum Beverages is a validation of these efforts, and a reminder that serious-minded investors always recognize where growth is assured. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Kadji Group for believing in Aba’s entrepreneurial spirit and for choosing Abia as their home for this transformative project. Together, we will protect and nurture every investment that brings prosperity to our people. Abia is rising. Abia is ready. Abia is open for business.

Some people are really struggling. A man brought his 3-year-old boy to the hospital. The child had been febrile and convulsing. He was asked to make a deposit of ₦100,000 before the boy could be admitted. Without saying much, he broke down. For five minutes, he cried bitterly Then he told us: they hadn't eaten in two days. There was nowhere he could get that kind of money. He said he would have let the boy die at home—but he didn't have the heart. Coming to the hospital was his last resort. It was as though cold water was poured on all of us. We quickly admitted the boy. We treated him for free. The hospital even sponsored his meals while he was on admission. --- Sometimes, it's good to let people see your vulnerability. Especially when you know you can't help yourself. Not everyone who walks through our doors is trying to scam us. Some are simply at the end of their rope. Thank God we listened.
