Had a great time at the University of Westminster presenting at the 'Repurposing City Centres Symposium' with Scott Orford... I posited that data is a fundamental evidence base for transforming our city centres, made easier by centres like @CDRC_UK! Thanks @sinashahab! 🌍

The symposium brought together local planning practitioners and researchers from South Korea, the UK, and Europe to discuss the issues faced by city centres, with a focus on place-based interventions that can help to guarantee a future for city centres and their retail spaces.

Day 5 included a full-day symposium on 'repurposing city centres'. The symposium concluded our ESRC-funded project 'Creating Prosperous City Centres Post-Pandemic Through Repurposing Retail Space', a collaboration between the UK and Korean researchers.

Attended the 'Repurposing City Centres' Symposium at University of Westminster. It was an amazing transformative learning experience. Interesting to know about how UK & Korea are working on strategies for City Centres.A huge thanks to @sinashahab & @UrbanWebb for organizing.

Day 4: we made our way down to London and visited Battersea Power Station, a recently redeveloped project that turned a massive grade-II listed brick building (built in 1929 and decommissioned in 1983) to a high-end shopping centre (opened in 2022).

Day 3 included talks from colleagues at the University of Liverpool, site visits to The Welsh Streets, Liverpool One, and Albert Docks, as well as a visit to a Yellow Submarine with a view at the Beatles Story Musium in Liverpool.

Over 70 people have registered for our symposium this Friday in London. Looking forward to presenting our research with @UrbanWebb, listening to super interesting presentations and engaging in productive discussions on 'repurposing city centres'.

Day 2 included a visit to Glasgow and St. Enoch centre. Super interesting to listen to the management team of a major shopping centre on how they're strategically adapting to the changing retail sector with a focus on offering 'experience' and the experience economy.
