BC’s Legal Professions Act would introduce a single regulator for lawyers, notaries and paralegals and consign the archaic English terms “articled student”, “bencher”, and “law society” to history. It will remain to be seen whether “King’s Counsel” will survive cc: @DanielCowper

@WhyteFergus I think the investment arm was spun out; the law firm became Biggart Bailie & Gifford which eventually merged with DWF in 2012.

I don't know if I'm the only one who was unaware that Baillie Gifford started as a law firm then transitioned to their present business but an interesting case law artifact here

Sitting in HSB sin bin. The late-running Bowen ferry has just docked, but sales are held anyway. It is the worst feeling. There aren’t even any public washrooms at the terminal and nowhere to fill up my water bottle. I hope Nicolas Jimenez can sort this out. #bcferries
