Honoured to be part of the WhizzyWheels programme this week as part of the paediatric service in the National Rehabilitation Hospital. I had the pleasure meeting of meeting the most amazing young ladies and facilitating a Makeup Therapy masterclass for them 🩷 @ProgrammeSpark

Stayed up way past my bedtime in NZ to catch this webinar hosted by @zelda1g and her colleagues at NMH! Love to see what’s being done in Ireland for prems once they’ve graduated from NICU! Feed to appetite is a key sentiment!

This is a very clever and informative paper: of 99 SLT students asked to consume pureed solids and mildly thick liquids for just 24 hrs, 60% didn’t/couldn’t. pubs.asha.org/doi/abs/10.104…

On Friday last, we celebrated BabyTalk – an initiative between the HSE and Louth County Libraries – encouraging parents to read, speak and sing to their newborns. The culmination of 3 years of work at OLOL Hospital, Drogheda. (1/7)

Are you the parent of a child or young person with Down Syndrome? Is your child under 18 years old? Does your child have a feeding, eating, drinking and swallowing difficulty? Do they have a restricted diet? Are mealtimes stressful? We would like to hear from you.

The stand out for me? A “Joie de vivre” for anything and everything, the mundane and the wonderful! Like the patient I brought to VFU clinic who was so excited to experience something new (at 97!) And this one; it’s a simple one to take on ☺️

Hobbies - and these varied from poetry writing, renovating old Irish castles and growing chilies 🌶️ They had a passion outside of their careers that fulfilled them ❤️‍🔥

Rotating into GenMed tomorrow and thinking back on my time in MedEl and what learnings I took from the patients (you’d always find me asking them for their life advice!) Here are the big hitters🧵1/4

Having access to joint Music Therapist and SLT sessions on the stroke rehab ward has led to increased patient gains and so much learning! Very grateful to work alongside Roisin and Marina🙌🏻
