The better humans have gotten at making plastic, the more challenging it has been to unmake it—especially the pieces too small to see. Long after plastic bottles and bags break down, they keep fragmenting into particles so tiny, conventional filtration can’t touch them. They drift through treatment plants and into waterways unimpeded. There, they enter the food chain, and ultimately the body, where they have been found in human organs and are increasingly linked to various diseases such as cancer. Enter nanobots. In a new study, researchers show that tiny magnetic machines made of cagelike materials can tumble through water, sweeping up nanoplastics via the same electrostatic attraction that makes a balloon cling to your hair. 🧫H. pylori treatment helps prevent gastric cancer, but antibiotic resistance can reduce success. That’s why prevention strategies must consider resistance patterns & support adherence. TOGAS is building evidence for practical approaches to gastric cancer prevention across 🇪🇺.

🦠 H. pylori treatment—what works best? 📊 Study of 26,000+ U.S. patients ✅ Quadruple therapies (concomitant & bismuth) ≈90% eradication 🔁 Bismuth = best salvage option ⚠️ Prior antibiotics ↓ success 🚫 Don’t repeat failed regimens 🔗[sciencedirect.com/science/articl…]

😯 A scientist once infected himself with H. pylori to prove it caused ulcers, and he was right. His bold step revolutionised treatment and linked the bacterium to gastric cancer. Today, testing is simple. TOGAS works to make H. pylori screening a reality across Europe.

H. pylori survives by neutralising stomach acid around it. This survival skill allows it to play a role in developing illnesses, even gastric cancer. That is why the TOGAS project is working to raise awareness about H. pylori and implement effective screening across the EU.

🗣️ This Gastric Cancer awareness month, let's talk about H. pylori! This bacteria affects more than half the world's population. H. pylori (Helicobacter pylori) is a risk factor for gastric cancer. Knowledge is your first line of defence!

📊 Why is the Gastric Cancer burden rising despite falling rates? While the individual risk of getting gastric cancer is decreasing globally, the absolute number of patients is rising due to population growth and ageing.

At#SVPD2025, 🇪🇸 Samuel J. Martínez-Domínguez shared key lessons from Hp-EuReg to improve H. pylori management: avoid OCA where ineffective, 7-day regimens, low PPI doses, repeated antibiotics, and unconfirmed eradication. 👏 @samu_martiinez @JoseMHuguet2
