@sambhra10 The Buddha cannot be defended by anyone. There is no illusion either. In the Kalama Sutta, the Buddha urged us to reject blind belief and test everything against direct experience. We appreciate his farsightedness precisely because his insights on the mind survive that reality.

A useful principle is this: No tradition should be above examination. Not Buddhism. Not atheism. Not science. Not ideology. Not nationalism. Not even our own emotional attachment to “truth.” A teaching is valuable not because it is ancient or sacred, but because it reduces suffering, survives honest observation, and remains coherent under reality pressure. The danger begins the moment followers stop investigating and start protecting identity. Even Buddha repeatedly pointed toward direct observation over blind belief: see clearly, test experience, notice suffering, notice attachment, notice ego. So the goal should never be “defend Buddha.” The goal is: remove illusion wherever it appears. Sometimes religion contains wisdom. Sometimes it contains corruption. Sometimes secular systems produce clarity. Sometimes they produce emptiness. Truth is what remains after every comforting illusion, authority, ideology, and self-deception has been pressure-tested against reality. That process should never stop.
