@unit0music yeah my M4 iPad Pro is going on 2 years without any burn in, i think some OLED gaming monitors can still be susceptible to burn-in from recent long term reviews i've seen, but still minor imho in the context of playing one game for dozens/hundreds of hours

@singtoconley burn-in countermeasures have gotten really good over the years. OLED burn risks are at an all time low now

OLED's biggest issue isn't risk of burn in, it's that once you've used it, you realize you can never go back

@haimofuuu ableton's workflow lends itself extremely well for orchestral music, especially for the fact that tempo adjustments are incredibly easy to automate. i've never felt held back by it as a full time Live user making orchestral compositions

it's like letting an AI beat a video game boss for you and thinking that's gonna feel the same as if you did it yourself. at that point, are you playing the game to have fun & test your skills, or do you just want your friends to see that you beat it & THINK you're a god gamer

AI gives them a button to skip all that struggle and let them feel a simulacrum of artistic accomplishment, but it's short lived, especially if it's done just for the approval of others. any creative endeavor dies on that vine. because the struggle is part of the accomplishment.

this illuminates why AI is like crack for someone who wants to be a creator, but recoils at the idea that they're gonna be bad at it you'd think, just keep your failures private until you improve, but what they really want is to "win" at being creative, & be recognized for that

people have such a problem with jokes becoming dated but honestly who cares as long as it's funny at the time it comes out gonna say the thing, but games are art, and are products of their time, so for better or worse, it's only natural they contain things that date themselves

before my MBP i used an M1 Air to make a ton of music for personal projects, a huge portion of an upcoming video game soundtrack, and a lot of video editing for URL fest visuals. the only reason i upgraded was for the extra memory (16 to 64gb) and the active cooling!

unless you have genuinely intense workflows that you rely on to make money or sustain a very passionate hobby, MacBook Air is where most people should go i use a MacBook Pro because my DAW slams the CPU so much for so long, the active cooling is necessary, + 64gb memory option
