We heard from Carol at Nottingham Street Pastors sharing all about the vital work they do in Nottingham’s streets on a Friday and Saturday night, keeping people safe. Olimpia our student journalist was in the paper Another great evening with the SI Nottingham,making a difference.

Congrats to Olimpia Zagnat who won the SI Nottingham NTU student Journalist of 2021. It was presented at a NTU evening for current 3 year students last night Olimpia's piece was about the experiences Romanian women have in the UK. Soroptimists Sue and Clare are giving the prize

SI Nottingham Speaker Programme to end April 2022

Nottingham's Sheriff, Rushcliffe's Mayor and MP were on the Council House Steps on 25 Nov. morning. All gave a short interview to local TV and helped decorate the lions with scarves knitted by Soroptimist members. Handknitted flowers and info. were handed out to onlookers

Nottingham Soroptimists want to make a difference and show that Nottingham says 'NO!' to violence to women and girls. On 25/11 am, with our orange flowers and our Orange scarves for the lions we be on the Council House steps & tell you about the United Nations 16 day initiative

Nottingham Soroptimists Perdita, Lynda and Barbara joined Audrey today for a knit and natter. They took balls of orange wool to knit parts of the scarf to decorate the lions outside the council house. Lots of tea and smiles for our #orangenottingham project!…clickety click! 🧶

SI Nottingham had a wonderful celebration of 85 years service with Afternoon Tea in the Colwick Hall Hotel, and a stimulating talk by Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason on raising 7 musical children, and thoughts about modern day society.

Our first face to face meeting for over a year! We welcomed new member Karen and then heard from Hannah Emmanuel House Support Centre, about the vital work they do in Nottingham, in particular the challenges that female rough sleepers experience.

On Friday a group of Soroptimists, a 'Soropti-mister' and volunteers from Nottinghamshire tree planters (not all pictured) braved the rain to finally plant the last ground covering plants on our Miyawaki forest consisting of wild garlic, comfrey, foxgloves, clover and more.

100 years of Soroptimist International, 85 years of Soroptimists in Nottingham and the link with SI Karlsruhe were celebrated when the Sheriff of Nottingham, unveiled plaques at 2 commemorative Pear Trees planted in the Garden at Greens Mill Nottingham.@SheriffNottm @SIGBI1

Nottingham Soroptimist supported the Toilet Twinning Initiative raising money for a toilet block in Malawi. One of the toilets in the Nottingham Playhouse was sponsored, the picture shows a Certificate being presented to Stuart Smith of the Playhouse by SI Nottingham members

Two sunny weekends, and on FarmEco, Screveton run by David, with help from consultant Rachel Nottingham Soroptimists planted over 400 trees forming a micro Miyawaki forest. The Mayor of Rushcliffe Council, unveiled the plaque celebrating 100 years of worldwide Soroptimism #SIGBI

The ground has been prepared on our tree plot & the necessary nutrients added. It is ready for our tree planting sessions in a week. The plot is carefully mapped out so each plant supports the others and they thrive. #soroptimists #planttreesforabrighterfuture #soroptimistsatwork

Well done to some of our members and friends who braved the freezing temperatures to volunteer to plant including fruiting plants & oak trees at the Farm Eco site on 30th December. They had a real challenge, along with all the other volunteers, as the ground was frozen!
