@sja900 It’s not just that you didn’t have synthesis and weather ball. Assuming it still works the same in other weathers like sand, meganium could actually be a sleeper addition to sun teams for a secondary mega

Protean Mega Greninja is legitimately interesting - currently protean only activates once per switch, but presumably you could activate protean as non-mega, reset your typing when you mega, then activate protean again for some megamind plays

@micloti1 But abilities activate again if you mega. And typing resets when you mega too. I'm pretty sure you'd be able to activate protean pre-mega, then mega and activate it once again. Just like sand stream activates again if Ttar megas

@micloti1 Protect before you mega, then mega evolve to reset your typing and protean. It's actually decent for VGC

@fumi_mk8_ You can always protect before mega so I don't think that's so much an issue, but you're right that set up sets don't benefit which is definitely relevant if Gren keeps nasty plot from legends ZA. I still think it's a decent ability but not broken. Which is a good thing

@sja900 I think it's kinda bad, if you wanna run a SD sweeper you need to SD before you mega or you become normal and lose stab on your attacks, also in VGC if you need to protect before you attack you also lose stab, would've preferred another ability

@sja900 I thought about that strategy too but you risk the chance of the frog getting immediately OHKOd and losing your mega without even using it

@sja900 @GodmasterBun Even if you can in theory use it twice i feel like if it doesn't have a hidden eff that works for mega (being unnerfed basically) it'd make it a lot worse. Then again Ash Gren was a thing in OU and couldn't change types and was good so I guess we'll have to see

@GodmasterBun Idk maybe? But I think probably not. It might have been a balancing decision since they were very strong abilities before

@sja900 In my head I thought the only reason Protean/Libero got nerfed to one use was because changing types was the gimmick of SV Is it at all possible they change the ability back to how it used to be now that we're moving away from those games?
