As my financial situation improved and I became a dual-income household, we paid those loans off in big chunks over a few years. Since this new student loan forgiveness program was announced, I’ve seen a few people respond with some form of “that’s not fair” statement. 2/3

I had my first child one month after I turned 19. I went to college and worked full-time as a single mom for the next 10 years. I received substantial financial aid and chose to attend pretty affordable colleges. I walked away with my degree and about $12k in student loans. 1/3
