@Davistaylorbro Interesting. I wonder whether this kind of result leads to “safe” and homogeneous design convergence, or if it sparks revolution and rethinking human factors in display.

#flux can create mobile app concepts. The title typography and small UI details usually come through.

@ItsDaveClayton The industry spent so much energy and skill on making mics nearly invisible, creating amazing little packages at great price points, only to have morons completely misunderstand their use.

Simply writing off the five grand I wasted on AutoPilot, rather than risking my life every time I used it, remains one of my best decisions.

Cameras are good enough for FSD - Elon Musk. Unless you don't want to get hit by a train. "I have owned my Tesla for less than a year, and within the last six months, it has twice attempted to drive directly into a passing train while in FSD mode. The most recent incident occurred on May 8, 2024, and I have dash cam footage from that event." #post-8259936" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/ap… h/t @vantazach/post/C7IgkEAOIlu/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">threads.net/@vantazach/pos…

@lifebypixels "Never let your tools get in the way of your art" 😁 This is an important thing for artists to remember, so thanks for ringing that bell, Mark. No matter what comes out of a machine, WE get to choose the next steps.

Based on usual design trend cycles I'm starting to see an increase in retro ~80s/90s visual styles in indie dev UI designs. Remember those indexed gif looking buttons and dither/diffused gradients were originally pushing the edge because the tech was limited. Design often does this. Push against the limitation. Look at automotive design history. The shape of car fenders, bumpers, etc, were often illustrative of what limitations they had in assembly line tech. It's why historically we see much more detail and expressive forms in designs early when they are hand crafted by humans. Architecture is another good example of this. We simplify when we automate. What pushes the edge when a technology is less limited will be human decision, intentional and subjective. Same will be true for AI as it was for assembly line work. You the human will decide what good is for your project and it will resonate or not, then you iterate in that subjective space with intention.

Similar, a teacher wrote in my report - age 14 to my parents that "Mark will never become a commercial designer or graphics artist..." I remember feeling devastated. Thankfully sk8boarding and punk, metal, hip hop communities were better teachers. 🤘

"I had a teacher that didn't like me and I didn't like him. At the end of the year he decided to fail me. The ironic thing is that the topic was chemistry. I have the distinction of being the only chemistry laureate who failed the topic in high school!" - Tomas Lindahl
