@Mmousf @FourSavages I wasn’t one of those fans 🙂
all I’m saying is the current player is basically identical and there is nothing does jazz does better atm than gleyber. Why would they pay him 20M+ a year ???
English

@skatttpack @FourSavages Let’s not act like Yankees fans weren’t losing their minds over Gleyber here too. His value was almost entirely tied to his bat. When he wasn’t hitting he wasn’t giving you speed, athleticism or versatility. But sure, fielding % ends the discussion now.
English

The early struggles of Jazz Chisholm Jr. feel a bit similar to what we saw early from Gleyber Torres in 2024 in his contract year.
Gleyber through May 11, 2024: 31 H, 1 HR, 7 RBI, .207 AVG, .290 OBP, .543 OPS, 40 Ks
Jazz through May 11: 30 H, 4 HR, 14 RBI, .201 AVG, .281 OBP, .603 OPS, 49 Ks
We remember how that contract negotiation ended up. If it doesn't turn around, we could see it again.

@chesportsguy if there’s anything that I am, it’s consistent. I still feel that way when they show flashes of it against bad teams but it’s covered because it’s bad teams.
and re: playing well — sure, they always play _well_ averaged across 162 but a winning season isn’t the goal
English

@skatttpack If you can dismiss when they don’t fall victim to those deficiencies and chalk it up to just beating up on bad teams then it sounds a lot less like their identity and more like confirmation bias. The aggregate suggests that they’re playing well this year so far
English

@Mmousf @FourSavages Gleyber Torres currently has a higher fielding percentage and a dwar of +0.5. Jazz’s dwar is -0.2.
Jazz led all second basement in errors last year. Jazz had 12. Gleyber had 5 with 34 more games played lol.
This argument is exhausting.
English

@FourSavages Not really comparable. Even when Jazz struggles offensively, he still impacts the game defensively and athletically in ways Gleyber never did. Regardless, if we’re not planning to sign him long term, we should do what we didn’t with Gleyber and capitalize by trading him.
English

gleyber torres has a higher fielding percentage, is hitting .259, and has an OPS and OBP that is 100pts higher.
he got chased out of new york
So many yankees fans want to lock down jazz for 30M a year
Make it make sense
Brandon Tierney@BrandonTierney
The engine looking even worse than the outside of the car for Jazz. Wow.

Legitimately think @AnthropicAI could manage the Yankees better than Aaron Boone and Brian cashman

@foratortnight @stillerslover @gldivittorio do you think it is just cloud storage and AI is what data centers are for? My sweet summer child twitter, Facebook/IG and TikTok are the single largest consumers of data centers in the United States. Just simply posting this tweet draws energy from a data center.
English

@stillerslover @gldivittorio I’d gladly give up cloud storage for data centers to disappear. I use it, but I can do without it. If they’re gone, we’d ALL have to adapt to a cloud-less life, and I think we’ll survive.
English

so many people have 0 functional understanding of how the applications they use every day run.
do people really think data centers just … run themselves? that there aren’t always hundreds of human beings inside each one every day?
GL@gldivittorio
One thing I don't get about data centers— there is sooo much flat, empty, highway accessible land in the US that might require some additional infrastructure but would face far less backlash. Why are these AI companies always trying to build LexCorp in quaint midsize towns?
