They are desperate! The goal is to integrate it so deeply into the structure of the internet that it becomes too big to fail. Billons and billions of dollars at stake in multiple industries, including the hardware and construction side, dependent on exponential growth.

The AI critics have been proved right about basically everything so far. But one thing that has surprised me is how much the companies are trying to FORCE us to look at GenAI. Top of every Google search. Bottom of every viral tweet. No way to let users turn off. Seems desperate.

The Senate has voted 61-35 to break filibuster on the Laken Riley Act. With the help of 10 Democrats, the bill directing the detention of migrants without due process will now advance. Democrats also helped make the bill's authority even wider than when it was first introduced.

• OpenAI’s new task service—a far cry from general agents—is “buggy” and “extremely brittle”
• Apple couldn't even get news summaries to work reliably
LLMs have their uses. They are great for brainstorming and autocomplete for coding, etc, but they cannot be trusted on their own—not even for basic tasks like reminders and news summaries.
AGI is nowhere near in sight.

It’s about time. Apple Intelligence notification summaries have been disabled for all news apps in iOS 18.3 Beta 3. Apple says it’s working on improvements and will make them available in a future software update.
