Olympic 🥉 medallist Laura Deas, who was part of 🇬🇧’s first-ever double individual Winter Olympic podium finish 2018, has retired. “To my team-mates… we showed the world that it was possible to be both teammates & rivals, competitors & friends & I’ll miss you all.” 👇

To my teammates- for the endless hours of camaraderie and friendship, thank you. We showed the world that it was possible to be both teammates and rivals, competitors and friends. To my family- for making it possible to follow the dream in the first place, thank you.

To those who saw something in the naïve teenager and gave her a shot, thank you. To those who developed my skills and showed me what world class truly meant, thank you. To those who were there to pick me up when my confidence was shattered and show me the way forward, thank you.

I don’t think anything will ever completely replace the rush of taking a run down an ice track, but that’s something I’ll learn to live with over time. To everyone involved in my career and journey through the sport, thank you.
