Last month, Melissa and Joel Collier @wcwildscallops took part in conducting scallop biomass surveys, helping to provide a glimpse into the health of scallop beds. We think it's pretty cool to work with fishers who are so engaged in helping manage the fishery they take part in!💫

This happened yesterday! Sonia had a great morning chatting with @viawesome about how the pandemic has impacted how people think about where their food is coming from, and how more and more, folks want to build connections to their food producers. buff.ly/3jH2YJG

Adapted from Yotam Ottolenghi's cookbook, Simple, this orzo with spot prawns, tomatoes, and marinated feta is an easy one-pot dinner, and an ode to the final days of summer. This recipe also goes pairs well with a view!

Some will advise throwing away unopened mussels because they're dead — did you know this is a myth? Paul Simpson from Saltspring Island Mussels has been trying to debunk this. In fact, mussels that don't open are very much alive, since their adductor muscle is still engaged!

The majority of canned tuna on the market has had the oil pressed out of it. Ours, however, contain the tuna loin with all the nutritional value. Moral of the story: 👏never👏drain👏off those beautiful natural oils in your Skipper Otto cans! Just mix them right in, and enjoy!

When much of the salmon fishing was shut down at the end of June, Steve Martinelli postponed his salmon trip to instead go and fish lingcod. We jumped at the chance to get Steve's lingcod cheeks and the halibut bycatch too! Coming soon in the Dock😉

Our newest sea vegetable sheets of umami-rich goodness happen to be a delicious, gluten-free substitute for lasagna noodles. Our very own Ravi Maharaj tried out a kelp lasagna recipe from @ediblevancouver, and said it was "pretty great - much lighter than a regular lasagna!
