Quite right, because the post was presenting an outside perspective, which is what I was responding to. “Hate” is a strong word, and I wouldn’t presume to call people miserable when I haven’t lived their lives. Obviously, from an inside perspective, a lot of things look rather different.

In neutral observation, "miserable" is still the accurate word. The problem with "be the better example" is that it assumes the other person can even observe outside themselves. It sounds noble, but it ties success to what the observer achieves—not the person actually doing the changing. That quietly erases personal accountability.

I wouldn’t be quite so harsh as to call people “miserable”. The term is negative in itself and somewhat contradicts the message of your post. It is simply a learned pattern that they maintain. Be the better example and show them how they can change it, rather than putting them into boxes.
